Go Positive: A very cute cottage ideally located in the Harry of Whitby, clean and bright offering good sized accommodation. The only negative as a 6ft lad the ceiling of the shower cubicle was touching the top of my head. Negative: Everything was Great, being picky you can only have one dog, I have two incredibly well behaved older dogs. They had to go in kennels which cost nearly as much as renting the cottage. We would liked to have stayed longer but the dogs cost plus the cottage was too much

Great location, nice cottage, recommended. Positive: Cosy cottage in a great location. Close to restaurants and shops. Great for a family visit with dogs. Negative: Needs a bit of an update in parts.

Lovely cosy place in superb location Positive: Superb location, right in centre of town, but up quiet alleyway. Very cosy and warm. Lots of character. Well equipped for a short stay. Powerful hot shower, hairdryer, iron, plenty of pots and pans. Plenty storage in spacious bedrooms. Lovely view from top bedroom. Good WiFi. Free parking permit. Dog friendly. Would definitely stay here again. Don't let the negatives put you off - they are not deal breakers and it's a lovely place. Negative: Wish we had been given better instructions on how to find it. It is up a narrow alleyway, the gate of which had a sign on it which obscured the alleyways name sign. We ended up walking up and down flowergate until we found it. For info tho it is opposite Witness menswear, next to travel agents. Parking in whitby is a bit of a nightmare, so don't expect to be able to park nearby. Parking permit is inside the property, for zones just a few streets away. It's just that you have to go into property first, so bear this in mind. I suggest pulling up outside and one of you quickly unloads bags and grabs the permit. Only one tea towel, and no washing up liquid. Other reviewers have mentioned the shower cubicle, which is an issue if you're tall, but it was manageable, you just have to crouch! Mattress could do with upgrading.

Wonderful Whitby Positive: Great location, really central. Liked that the cottages had a shared courtyard to sit out on with the dog as the weather was great. Generally clean and the bedrooms were clean and tidy. I loved that we had a tv in the bedroom as well. Nice to have constant hot water in the shower Negative: Other people have raised this, just some bits to make the property feel loved. Please fix the shower head, it’s annoying having to hold the shower head yourself! The rug in the front room is grubby and has a large pull that could be hazardous. Either remove it or cut the thread off! Bedrooms were clean, however downstairs felt a bit grotty. You need to replace the blind on the door. If you have people staying for more then 2 nights, please supply more than 1 toilet roll. Would have been great if there had been a better supply of tea coffee and sugar (maybe I was expecting too much, but 4 teabags and 4 coffees for 4 adults staying for four nights does seem a tad stingy!) I understand it’s just a cottage let, little improvements can make this become a little gem. We loved Whitby, it’s a beautiful place with great people.

Good Stay…good location and cute home. It was basic in terms of additional homely extras, felt more like a hotel instead of the special extras you’d typically get at air b and b, welcome book, welcome extras and flexibility. I wouldnt jump at staying here again, location was good however you can’t park close by really and street parking is tight streets. The price paid was decent and good that it was dog friendly.

Beautiful cottage in a spectacular location. Walkable to all of the local attractions and local supermarket. Inside was clean and beautifully decorated. Our only minor quibbles were the main bed had lost some of its springiness, and all bedrooms only had blinds which did little to block out the light, which meant our children were up as soon as it went light. Overall though I would happily stay again. Thanks to Dale for our lovely stay

We raised a complaint regarding the parking permit not being the correct pass to cover our entire stay and this has still been unanswered. We narrowly avoided getting a ticket due to this issue. It's also not clear from the property description that parking options available via the permit aren't particularly close to the property which was difficult when arriving and dealing with luggage, small children and trying to locate a cottage down a narrow alley which was hard to locate.

Right in the heart of Whitby, this cottage is perfect for a family get away.

Great location but needs some tweeks! Positive: Fabulous location in the heart of Whitby Negative: Afraid the shower was very poor, if you are over 5 foot 7 you simply can’t shower as the tray is too high and the roof too low, our 6 foot 2 son didn’t stand a chance! Whilst in the shower (holding the shower head as you can’t get it over your head) you then have no. Shelves or anywhere to put shampoo etc. Could be rectified by turning it into a wet room. Also thought it was rather a cheek that we had to pay a £250 deposit which you don’t get back for 2 weeks and a £10 admin charge is taken off to add insult to injury! I have no problem paying a deposit but surely it should be refunded immediately after the property is inspected.

Fantastic place to stay. I come to whitby every year and only just found this place. We love it. Positive: Location and the style was great. Views from top bedroom fantastic. Negative: Nothing to complain about I always think 10 am checkout is a bit of a rush with family when you have breakfast but I understand they need to be cleaned for next people.

Beautiful little cottage right in the heart of Whitby, slightly fishy smell on arrival but assume previous guests had been cooking and couldn't air the place. TV in top room didn't work for kids and not much help from support on that front. Also wasn't a fan of the additional deposit or fee for damage, the process was a faff and the idea of it doesn't sit well with me. but overall a good stay.

The property was in an excellent position. Directions were easy to follow. Quiet yet in the centre of Whitby. Property could do with some TLC. The TV is a little outdated with a digital box. Would have preferred to be able to stream TV apps like Netflix, Amazon Etc. We visited as a couple with a dog. The size downstairs is small. I struggle to see how you could fit four people comfortably of an evening. We enjoyed our visit to Whitby.

Quirky cottage in the heart of Whitby Positive: Brilliant location, right in the heart of Whitby, only thing missing - a sea view. The cottage was quirky, with bags of character. Comfy beds, and a warm property, as we came for the Christmas market. Negative: We can't really fault the property. If anything, a little small, so if you're a bigger person, might be a bit of a squeeze, especially in the main bedroom.

A nice short break away in a great location lovely to not use the car once! Positive: The location was great the cottage was very cosy and had everything we needed I would recommend Amber cottage for a short stay in Whitby. Negative: The only thing I’d say is you do need more than one tea-towel especially as we were there for 5 days! And an over mitten/gloves would be a good idea too.

Really lovely place, very homely & right I the middle of everything. We would highly recommend staying.

The cottage is in a great location in Whitby, parking is approx 300 mtrs away but sometimes no spaces were available. The bedrooms are,beautiful, great shower,lounge/kitchen are lovely but very compact, perfect for 2 but maybe a little tight for 4. Overall lovely stay .

It was our first time in Whitby and had no idea about the difficulty of driving around and finding a car park! Then when Positive: Great location right in the centre of town. Quaint alleyway and view over the rooftops. I loved that it was a centuries old fishing cottage. Negative: It looked a bit tired, and didn’t feel entirely clean. (Some mugs, fridge and floor rug in particular.) Shower could use a facelift.

Great location Positive: Position is ideal brilliant view from top bedroom can see the abbey and church and a lot of the steps leading upto Abbey. Bedrooms where exceptionly clean and tidy double bed very comfortable overall was clean and tidy. Negative: The shower was a little dirty especially the drain and some of the grout needs cleaning. Toilet handle broke needs fixing or replacing.

Positive: The cottage was in an excellent location and was well equipped for a self catering stay. Negative: Very low ceilings so beware if you are very tall.

Positive: Location was very good Negative: Not very clean. No basic cleaning things, washing up liquid, anti bac, Cooker and all cooking things not clean. Fridge not clean. Beds up on top floor make such a noise when my daughter turned in the night, also could do with bew mattresses. Parking also a nightmare W zones are not near the house, top floor bedroom you can hear all the neighbours noise really bad.

We had a very enjoyable stay at Amber Cottage. It was also in located in a quiet area which was surprising given its central location

Hübsches historisches Haus, mit leichten Mängeln in sehr guter Lage. Positive: Zentrale Lage, ruhig, schöner Blick auf die Abtei, geschmackvolle Einrichtung. Vermieter bot an Reinigungskraft vorbeizuschicken. Negative: Mangelnde Sauberkeit, defekte Jalousien, Böden und Schränke waren definitiv nicht geputzt, klebrige verkrümmelte Backbleche im Ofen, nicht benutzbare Klobürste, Kühlschrank nicht sauber mit fehlenden Regalen, verschimmelte Dusche.

Really enjoyable, would stay again, Positive: Great location for everything needed. Short walks to every part of the town. Comfortable and fit for purpose. Clean & tidy, had everything needed. Well presented. Negative: Very small kitchen area, absolutely fine for the 2 of us and dog. But any bigger parties may struggle with the size of the kitchen.

Perfect location to explore Whitby by foot. Clean and comfortable accommodation. Highly recommend.

The cottage itself was in a good location but it was difficult to find.\nOnce inside it was very cold, the central heating was on very low and we had to figure out how to turn it up, with no manual. Also the gas fire wasn't working, we only saw the notice written on a piece of paper after we'd attempted to try and turn the fire on.\nThe beds were very comfortable however there was heavy staining on the actual bedding, there was also staining on the blue settee and on the carpet at the top of the stairs.\nThe televisions were very difficult to get working, one of the remotes for the living room television has sellotape on the back.\nIn the kitchen area there is no draining board, the tea towel was stained and the microwave was damaged/melted on one side so we didn't use it.\nThere were no instructions or welcome pack and as much as the cottage was in an ideal location the cost of £330 for two nights was not worth it.

Positive: Great location in the centre of Whitby. Lovely, well appointed cottage on three floors. Parking pass included which was a bonus. Negative: Very small kitchen space. We didn't use the microwave as it was melted on one side due to the proximity to the cooker hob I presume. No draining board so when washing up the worktop got covered in water. Although the cottage was clean there were lots of cobwebs in the roof spaces.

Perfect little weekend, in a delightful little cottage. Positive: Great location and lovely little house. The view from the attic bedroom is stunning. It gives you everything you need for a break. Negative: The sofas aren’t very comfy.

Absolutely brilliant Positive: It’s a really great quaint little cottage & an excellent location. Negative: Liked everything only feedback/ suggestion I would give is that more than 1 hand towel be provided, as 1 between 4 wasn’t enough.

Beautiful cottage Positive: We loved our stay here! The cottage is cosy, modern, comfortable and clean. It had a lovely welcoming vibe and really felt like home. The rooms were spacious and beds were comfortable. We would love to stay again in the future when visiting Whitby. We highly recommend!

The cottage is in an excellent location right near all the restaurants, pubs, shops, and the waterfront It is a compact but lovely little cottage with everything you need. The bed is comfortable with nice linen and cosy feel to the bedroom Although we had a nice stay, the crockery and glasses were all dirty, as well as the grill. Tv needs updating, everyone wants to log into their smart tv apps now. Overall a lovely week but we have stayed in nicer, better looked after houses.

Comfortable, great location Positive: Lovely little cottage. Great location. Had everything we needed. Shower was great , very powerful. Bright and airy rooms. Negative: Parking was a bit of a pain, spaces were full near to the property so had to park further away than expected. The fire was out of action. One of the single beds was very squeaky and made lots of noise when turning over in sleep. Downstairs seating furniture uncomfortable too, but luckily we were out most of the day so didn’t use much.

Weekend in Whitby Positive: We found Amber Cottage to be a beautiful terrace house right in the centre of Whitby. All attractions are within walking distance. Views of the Abbey and sea from the bedrooms. Negative: Shower may be difficult if you are very tall.

We enjoyed a lovely stay and everything was as hoped. The cottage is lovely and very cozy. The directions saying it was accessed opposite the bridal shop were crucial as the narrow alleyway it’s located down is very easy to miss.

Pretty cottage central yet very quiet location. Lou stay we have booked again! Positive: Comfy double bed & room. Quiet yet central location. Very modern yet had some lovely original features Negative: Just the single beds were squeaky and could do with a carpet as can hear every movement downstairs. Perhaps 2 loo rolls could be left for 3 people 1 wasn’t enough had to buy more. Very bright as no blackout curtains or blinds so awake very early

Excellent place to stay. It's a lovely little cottage, very nicely decorated and maintained. The double bed in the master bedroom is nice enough, but the mattress is uncomfortable - you can feel the springs. The twin bedroom on the 2nd floor is lovely, with fabulous views of the abbey.

Amber Cottage has a great location, which was the highlight of our stay, but unfortunately, there were several issues that impacted our experience. On arrival, the house was quite cold, which didn’t make for a welcoming start. The sofa had noticeable stains, and the fridge had an unpleasant smell, like off milk. The bed was also uncomfortable, with the springs being very easy to feel. Communication with Dale was inconsistent; he took a while to respond to messages and initially said we could check in early, only to send a midnight message reversing this decision. However, when I called, early check-in was suddenly fine, which added unnecessary confusion. With a bit more attention to cleanliness, comfort, and communication, Amber Cottage could offer a much better experience.

good location Positive: location perfect, clean, comfy beds. Negative: shower room, needs ripping out and starting again. Although it's obviously cleaned, it is covered in mildew, the shower head isn't good either.

good Positive: The location is perfect for access to the center and local pubs and restaurants Negative: The property instructions advised there was parking, but this is not so easy at all, the promised 'free parking' permit was not found at the property so we had to pay for parking in a local car park at 9.60 per day - about 5minutes walk from the property. It is not possible to easily park outside the property so everything has to be carried from the parking location. The free permit parking roads are not close either.

Break in Whitby Positive: The cottage is in a great location for the town, is comfortable and has all the necessary amenities.There are superb views from the top window and it is cosy and warm. Negative: There was a strange smell going through the front and lingered on our clothes. The shower doesn't drain very well.

Positive: Location Negative: Shower was full of mould which was due to neglect in cleaning I had to bleach the shower with neat bleach before we could use it and a large proportion of it came off .Cobwebs everywhere , fireplace thick with dust , fridge still had sour milk or cream residue in it and the plates hadn't been checked and had food reminders on them , broken glass left in the back of cupboard.The list goes on and on .I find it hard to believe that these cottages are vacated at 10 o'clock on the day of departure and they are not ready to accommodate the next tennent until 4 the same day , there is absolutely no explanation to the standard that this property is therefore handed over to the next new tennent in such a poor unsanitary state. The owner of this cottage needs to know the condition that it is rented out in and I personally would like to hear back from them

Positive: Great location. Parking was as expected in a seaside town, but the scratch card was a nice touch. The cottage was surprisingly quiet and had all the facilities required for a short break. Negative: The cottage could do with a little TLC. The shower was a little mouldy and the kitchen area could do with a good clean.

Positive: Ideal location and quiet at night. Nice decor. and outside sitting area.TV in every bedroom. Negative: Some basic items were missing or insufficient like no washing up liquid or pad., half a blue cloth. Needed a bit more care in kitchen area.and cupboards. Shower too low .

Positive: Love this cottage there is nothing not to like about the place itself Negative: We arrived at the cottage to find that we could not have the key number until we put down a £250 insurance deposit and told we would then get £240 back if the property was undamaged! We were forced basically to their insurance and they refused to accept our own insurance. We have stayed at this cottage and wuth this company many times over the years and this charge is complete day light robbery not to mention taking 2 weeks to get £240 back !! Host and stay will not be getting any more bookings from me thats for certain its an absolute scam to charge those fees .

Comfortable, cosy and charming Positive: Excellent online information sent ahead of my arrival was greatly appreciated. Negative: Parking on arrival was a bit tricky. It would have been good to be advised about nearby pay and display option as the permit zones were quite far away for moving luggage.
