A large property, not too far walking distance from the centre of Whitby. 10 of us stayed for two nights, and I would like to point out the good and the bad! What we loved about the property was that the beds were comfortable and it was very spacious for 10 of us. Very large dining area to seat 10 people and further chairs at an island table in the kitchen area. There were a few negative point I would like to address. Firstly Host & Stay were wanting to charge £56 for two of us to check in early just one hour before. We felt it was unfair due to the price we had paid. 4 pm check-in was late and 10am was early to check out. Secondly, the property wasn’t cleaned to our satisfaction. The dado rails were vey dusty and the oven was filthy. A very thin dish cloth and not enough cleaning products and no towel roll. Sadly I very much doubt we will book again with Host and stay in the future.

Large and well located for all that Whitby has to offer. Positive: Plenty of space and sufficient bathrooms. Negative: For a large group more than one front door key would have been better.

This house was amazing. Had everything our large party required. 9 adults 2 children and 1 dog. The views and location were great. Communication was excellent when we changed the number of our party and early check in. Lots of advice on things to do and places to eat. Would definitely stay again.

Lovely immaculate property, with beautiful views. Perfect location within walking distance of Whitby and all its amenities. The property was clean and very spacious sleeping 12 very comfortably. Quick helpful responses from the host company, always on hand for any small query. All in all, we had a wonderful time here in Whitby and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

great stay in whitby. the accommodation was clean and tidy. plenty of space for our party of 12. walkable to the town, very quiet outside the property. host was quick to reply to any questions before the visit, had no need to contact during the stay as the instructions and information was all clear and easy. great stay

A 'tired' house especially outside with some nice touches inside. Great for big groups. Positive: The property was very spacious for a large group. Pleasant kitchen and sitting area overlooking the harbour. When the heating eventually worked, the house was warm with plenty of hot water. Beds were comfortable and most of the bathroom facilities were well placed. Negative: Problems with the heating on the first night which was rectified over the phone with an engineer. A large wet area on the carpet in the downstairs bedroom was a nuisance accessing the ensuite and made the room smell damp. Was reported but no-one came to see it. Also a problem with using the shower and the downstairs toilet as both flooded when the facilities upstairs were being used. Not nice! General cleanliness poor especially in the kitchen. Parking was very difficult, on the road only, took a while to get spaces. We were then loathe to use the cars during our stay for that reason.

Very disappointing!!!! Positive: Location was good , house size was ok for our party of 11 Negative: Bedding has grease/ oil on it- took 36 hrs to bring fresh bedding for my young daughter’s bed, night before we left!! Microwave & oven didn’t work ( both reported but never got looked at or repaired. Oven was filthy ,house needed a deep clean from top to bottom , dog treats & sweet wrappers left under the bed. Freezer had previous occupants food left in it ! Rear courtyard total disgrace. Poor communication from host , booking.com & host & stay. Asked for full refund only to be offer less than a third !! Avoid !!!!!!!!!!!

Lots to like about this house, spacious, well located close to town, and it's nicely decorated. Note, this isn't actually 7 bedrooms & snug, it's 6 bedrooms & snug. There isn't bedding for the snug, so you need to contact the company, who reply fast (& initially tell you you're wrong about the number of bedrooms). Bedding (wrong size) dropped off next day. There aren't enough remote controls. There are no bath mats, so the floors are often wet. Some appliances don't work. Crockery, cutlery and glasses were not clean. Cutlery, sharp knives, utensils are either really cheap or non existent. There aren't any saucepans, oven dishes etc large enough to cook for 12 people at once, plenty of small ones. There are no oven gloves. The way the company deals with the security deposit felt very unhelpful. They take the full £250 at the time, as well as a £10 'admin fee', and then take 7 business days to refund. This in itself puts me off ever using the company again.

Fantastic accomodation for a family get together, beautifully presented and kitchen and dining area perfect for socialising. 5 minute walk from Whitby centre. Great value for money for our group of 12. Perfect weekend.

Perfect location, perfect property, could have been a little cleaner Positive: Keys in lock box, only one for main door though which meant that if some stayed in house they had to keep door unlocked until last people got back, there was 12 of us. Bunch of keys a squash to get in the lock box as well, be better if only main key put in it Negative: Location perfect for us, size of the property etc however it could have been a lot cleaner and one of the double beds broke the first night

The house was a great location for Whitby and a good size for all my family to stay. I would say 4pm was a little late for check-in and maybe 3pm would be a more convenient time and in line with other places.

Great place to stay, great location and impressive home Positive: The home is impressive. Its large in size, modern and has eveything you need for your stay. The home was clean and appropriate. It is in a great location and in walking distance (5 mins) to whitby. There is local amenities close by. We managed to get parked no problem and were a family group from ages 14 to 63. So we used 4 cars and managed to get parked. Negative: More suggestions than criticisms as we really enjoyed our stay. I understand that heating this home would be an extra cost to the host before guests arrive but this is a very big home that takes a lot of time to heat so putting heating on before guests arrive would allow for a better experience, especaily as we stayed in december when the weather is naturally cold. My dad has parkinsons so really struggled on arrival at how cold the house was until it heated up in the evening. Some of the beds are less comfortable than others, maybe the host could review as one of my group woke up with spring marks in his back. That being said the above would not put us off from staying again.

Fabulous family weekend. Positive: The house was lovely, decor was tasteful and big enough for our family of eleven to all chill together. Great location just a few minutes from centre. Negative: Parking was a lottery, but it was August and pirate weekend so may have been more busy than usual. Unloaded outside house but had to park two streets away, but cars were fine.

Great location in the heart of Whitby. They have clearly upped their game in terms of standards and cleanliness from some of the earlier reviews we read….the house was spotless. Brilliant place to bring together our extended family and create memories together. We had a fabulous time.

Spacious, stylish house with bags of character, views of Abbey from upstairs, and close to town Positive: Spacious, stylish, versatile space. Lots of room for our family and friends to stay. Warm and cosy. No major gripes whatsoever. Would recommend. And within short walking distance of town centre, station and seafront/harbour. Negative: Would like some less bright lights in the kitchen area - again, all very stylish, just was a bit full on. And a few more bin bags would have been great - but again, nothing bad about the property itself. Also some basics like some salt/pepper, oil etc. would have been a help. There was coffee and pods however which was a godsend. The other small issue was parking as it is not always easy to get a space. But we all managed to park ok (despite one ticket for bad parking rather than anything to do with this property!) if not always on the doorstep.

Great location, 5 minute walk to the shops/cafes/restaurants. Had all the essentials as listed, we were able to cook for the group on both nights with the kitchen equipment provided. Nice quiet location overlooking the back marina.

fantastic place for a group getaway in Whitby Positive: We stayed at Albion House as a group and it was ideal for our needs. The house is incredibly spacious, with plenty of room for everyone to relax without feeling on top of each other. The kitchen is very well equipped, and the huge dining table made mealtimes and evenings playing games a real highlight of our trip. The location is excellent – just a short stroll into the heart of Whitby, yet far enough away to feel peaceful. Great views from the top room. Overall, Albion House is a fantastic place for a group getaway in Whitby – spacious, well-located, and a great base for exploring the area. We’d happily return. Negative: Parking always challenging in Whitby. We knew this so booked a just park parking space not too far away. Houses that come with parking are always a bonus in Whitby!

A really spacious house. We were a party of 12 and it felt like we had loads of space. The kitchen was great for family meals and socialising. There is no outdoor space just a table on the front. It was a very quick stroll into Whitby but felt away from the crowds. We did have a leak in the attic shower someone was sent round to look at the next day but it could not be fixed, hopefully we’ll get a small refund. Overall great house for a large group very near Whitby and lovely views. Clean, tidy and spacious.

Absolutely beautiful home to spend a lovely weekend with a group of friends. Clean and modern home with everything you need. Walking distance into Whitby town centre, train station and restaurants/bars. 100% recommend.

Stayed with a group of friends for a birthday and the kitchen was great for a big home cooked meal In a great location, easily walkable into the town and local tourist attractions A bit difficult to find and parking was a little awkward but the hosts sent very clear instructions which made life a lot easier The house was exactly as described and very clean and tidy Would definitely recommend

Stayed for a 40th birthday for 2 nights. Absolutely perfect location to get a mix of drinking in the town and being able to go back and get comfortable, play games in the house. Would 100% stay here again

The house was beautiful and in a perfect location with really good added touches like the nightlights in the hallways (for children) and a downstairs bedroom for those who can’t use stairs easily. The kitchen had everything and more you could ever need in a kitchen and the bathrooms were stocked with shampoo/conditioner/body wash too. Would definitely stay again and recommend to friends.

Positive: Came just before Christmas with our friends. House was absolutely gorgeous. Couldn't fault a single thing. Spotless..and the christmas tree was a lovely touch. Negative: Nothing.

lovely big house for the 2 family's . 11 in total. the place was high end but is starting to look a little tiered in places. beds where very comfortable as was sofas in main lounge. kitchen had everything and more that you would need. balcony on top floor bedroom is a nice touch. well done keep up the good work

Do not book this accommodation unless….. you are on a stag/hen, want dirty/broken kitchen utensils, not enough cups/broken chairs, no toilet roll, or soap on the bathrooms, beds not made, with the most suspect duvets and pillows with stains on them, if you’re okay when you call for assistance that the person cannot understand English, want a tiny fridge with a broken drawer and missing shelf so everything was piled high. If you want to check out at 10am (because the cleaners scheduling is more important than offering a late check out option), the back garden was a health hazard. Location was amazing. Genuinely never been anywhere this bad, it looked like the oven trays had hosted 20x greasy bakes, burned the bakes, then allowed to cool and put back in the cupboard. If this sounds right up your street to pay over a grand for two nights. Go ahead. I complained and was told I didn’t take pictures so they cannot uphold my complaint.

Great house and location however we did experience some issues throughout our stay. Upon arrival we encountered a leak from the toilet upstairs which sadly went through the ceiling onto the bed downstairs. Host & stay were very quick to get maintenance to attend to the issue but we did have to wait till the following morning for replacement bedding to arrive. The dishwasher wasn’t fixed in place so maintenance had to come back out to fix this as well. The team (thank you to Claire & Jack) were very efficient in helping us resolve these issues. Overall the house is a great space and worked really well for our large group, it could just do with a little tlc.

Perfect house for a birthday celebration with friends Positive: I held a birthday Houseparty at Albion House a week ago for 10 “mature” adults. We had a fabulous time there. The house is just like the photos show, modern and contemporary, and is clean and comfortable; it is spacious and user friendly and the heating was very good. Before our arrival, Host and Stay had cleaned the front steps, and painted the front door, so it all looked tidy and smart. Everyone loved the house and its location, it was perfect for all of us. Negative: At the end of our stay we made a couple of minor observations: the house keysafe outside the front door is abit tricky to open. A bit more cutlery for 10/12 people would be helpful, as would oven gloves. And, some written instructions how to operate/reset the TVs!

Won’t book again, needs deep cleaning & repairs. Positive: Large size house. Negative: Grubby, needs repairs & very low standard for price. Parking is horrific. 3* but grubby. Not at all a luxury stay.

Nice Positive: Property is as pictured. Had everything that we needed and plenty of room in the kitchen for a large group to eat and spend time together. Short walk into the main town. Negative: The main drawback was the lack of parking. Although there are parking areas nearby, very few spaces were available during our stay. We were fortunate to find a space within a short walking distance of the property. Because parking was so limited, we chose to use public transport to visit Robin Hood's Bay rather than risk losing our space and being unable to find another on our return. I imagine this could be an even greater challenge during peak season.

We had a great time in Whitby and this house was perfect for our stay. It is well equipped with lots of space and a great kichen table to relax around as a group. It is well positioned, close to the town and all the great pubs and restaurants. The only downside is the walk up the hill on the way back from the town which after a few shandies took twice as long as the way down the hill! Whitby is a great place for a few days and for a large group, I would highly recommend this period property.

Could have been great, I wouldn’t have needed to write this if the owners had been in touch with good customer service a Positive: Large property, plenty of room for large family gathering. Good location for seeing the sights of Whitby on foot. Negative: Drainage/plumbing issue, needed to ring emergency telephone number-plumber was sent and sorted issue but I have not heard since from “Host and Stay” to arrange any kind of partial refund/compensation for inconvenience. The property was not cleaned to a high standard - banisters were filthy when wiped, carpets need a deep clean, under the beds was debris, dust, rubbish- obviously not regularly moved as we even found a broken piece of plaster board when moving the bed which was being soaked by the leak from the bathroom above. There was a wasps next in the yard area - found this out after leaving the bathroom above window open overnight (due to unpleasant drains smell), the next morning the bathroom was full of wasps (talking 30-40 dozy wasps!).

The house is in an excellent location for walking to everything in Whitby, while also offering free roadside parking. The rooms are well designed and spacious - perfect for numerous families or friends to stay together and enjoy Whitby. Some areas of maintenance required - including some drainage issues stated in the welcome brochure - but was nicely clean throughout.

We had a fantastic stay in this lovely house. There were 12 of us and we had plenty of room. The large kitchen/dining area is excellent for a group. Close to Whitby centre, only about a 5 minute walk. We really enjoyed it. The house had everything we needed. The only thing I would say is all the beds are in need of replacing and once that's done it will be perfect.

Lovely stay. The house is a fantastic size and accommodates many friends/family. All the rooms are tastefully decorated and we LOVED the kitchen and large dining table! A great location, being a 5 minute walk to the town/Co-op/harbour etc. Parking is on the road and you might have to drive around a couple of times to get a spot but we always got one (2 cars). Would recommend!

Right in the centre but quiet at night. Beautiful house, with plenty of room for everyone. Fully stocked kitchen, everything was thought of & amazing views of the abbey from the upstairs bedrooms

This property is in a great location within a few minutes walk of all amenities in Whitby. We really struggled to get parked but that’s to be expected in Whitby. Large property that was great for two families, although you have to be fit to keep going up and down the numerous flights of stairs! The ground floor bedroom had its own en suite and felt self contained which was nice but it did smell a bit of damp and the shower couldn’t be used when other showers were in use. We had some issues with things being broken (eg. The dial on one of the ovens wasn’t working, bed slats missing in one bedroom making the bed unstable, chair in kitchen broken) or poor attention to detail (the wrong coffee pods being supplied for the type of machine). I did report the oven and the host offered to send someone to have a look but I declined because we weren’t planning on using the oven any more. Other broken things were found on different days and I couldn’t be bothered reporting everything! Overall, ok.

Great stay in a lovely house

The house is a lovely size with plenty of room for 6 adults. We had a bedroom each and the big kitchen was a great space to hang out. Might not be enough sofa space if there were 12 of you but it was fine for 6. We had no trouble parking and the house is close to all that Whitby has to offer so we left the cars parked up all weekend. We had to call up for the check in info but the hosts were very quick to sort it. Overall we had a lovely time here. Many thanks!

Building could do with some tlc and checking before guests come in Positive: Great location - whitby is on your door step Negative: There were little things that disappointed - broken shelfs - broken plastic flooring in the bathroom - No package left - for the price it would of been nice to get some milk or biscuits - front garden was a mess

Positive: Excellent, stay beautiful building lots of room . Negative: Unfortunately, the single bed on the 2nd floor the beds are in need of attention springs are very noticeable and make a twanging noise when moving around .other bed doubles are very comfortable.

Brilliant place, very well kitted out, great layout. Great location. Positive: This place is very big and beautifully decorated. Great views and so close to all the shops and restaurants and the beach! I seriously think that whoever puts bad reviews on here is coz they’re tight and want money off and they’re mental. You can’t fault this place! Negative: This is only coz you’re asking, there isn’t anything we didn’t particularly like but the front could do with some fencing and plants to give it privacy and it would make it look better and the back yard could do with some fake plants maybe some wooden panels and artificial grass? It would match how beautiful the house is inside! But seriously it didn’t bother us at all, it was nice to be able to sit outside at the front as is now x

Positive: Fantastic accommodation and situated in the centre of Whitby. The dining room table is huge, which we sat at each night to eat food and play games. The property had everything we required. Negative: The first night, the boiler had to pressure, and we were unable to showered or warm up the house. Luckily, a guy arrived within 2 hours and fixed the problem.

atrocious trip from beginning to end Positive: absolutely nothing. the house was dirty. the bathroom on the top floor was unusable the stench from the sink was disgusting and there was a sign saying that the shower could not be used at all. the microwave was broken. the ironing board was broken. there were broken knives in the kitchen. the beds creaked. there was nowhere to park near the property. there was dust everywhere. the floors were grimy. we had email confirmation that we could have early check in. on the day, they refused access and I had a car full of food that needed putting in the fridge. I raised a complaint, they took weeks to respond. eventually agreed a 20% refund however have still not paid me the money. I visited in August it is now octover. Host and Stay are horrific, do not book any properties with them. they have a call centre in the Philippines. Location is perfect, just a minute walk to Whitby town centre. Lovely view of the harbour. Negative: The house was clean on the whole but some dust on stair way, skirting boards and a leaking bathroom in the downstairs en suite. The kitchen diner is a great area but lacking some utensils and felt that some cleaning products and clothes should have been left.

Great house and location spoiled by terrible management company. On check in we noticed there was only 2 remotes for the 5 different televisions. They promised to provide more remotes and didn’t. The first night my nieces used the top floor bathroom and afterwards the top floor was flooded with an eggy drain smell. We cleaned the hair trap in the shower which was full of hair and opened the windows which solved the problem. We contacted host and stay and they did offer to send someone round but we had already solved the issue. The bin outside the front was full of the previous guests rubbish and two bags outside the bin. This attracted rats during the night and was full of flies. Again they promised to empty the bin and didn’t then it was collected on the last day by a private hire company so could have been done at any time. We paid £225 cleaning charge for 3 nights? For what exactly?

We have stayed in a few properties in the area and this was by far the best so far. Great property and well set up.

The house was very well decorated and maintained. It has a great location and lovely views. The house was not as equipped and some properties I have stayed in previously, with things such as tea towels, kitchen clothes and bath towels. And we also only seemed to have x2 tv remotes for the whole house. However these are very minor complaints.

Dirty bin a dirty throw and n one of the beds. a broken microwave plate THE STENCH OF THE DOWNSTAIRS SHOWER a disgusting back yard. dirty windows. Etc. Ect

The house was in a great location for accessing the centre of Whitby. Positive: The kitchen area with the huge table ,a great space for eating and playing games. Negative: The smell of drains in the ground floor bedroom ,I had read about this in previous reviews and contacted the maintenance office at host and stay to be reassured this was no longer a problem when it clearly was.
