Positive: The location was fantastic.heating wos great. Negative: First the stairs leading up to the arpartment..the carpet wos in that many pieces it wos dangerous to walk up.there wos stains on the sofa..crumbs dog hairs hadnt bn hovered..stains on carpet in bedroom..very disappointed.

we have a short haired cane corso flat is nice but duvet did not do up it slid to floor where dog sleeps it’s supposedly a pet friendly apartment we cleaned washed up only thing we didn’t do is make bed as duvet cover is broken apprently we broke duvet and have to buy a new one and the house keeping say they need to charge us for second clean this is contrary to the terms and conditions it was clean no hoover so we couldn’t hoover up tiny pet hairs he hardly malts they are clearly trying it on only mess was tiny black hairs on duvet cover because it wouldn’t do up and slid to floor shower scalds you no option to turn down heat gutter loose and squeaks all night toilet doesn’t flush but be aware they will try and make you pay extra cleaning charges our dog is fully housetrained as are we and housekeeping are bluntly lying

Short stay Positive: The location and the price . Plenty of space Negative: Dog hair on furniture ,no cutlery, damp smell, stains on bedroom carpet, cleaning could be better .no hangers in bathroom windows needed cleaning.

Sadly my stay wasn't great. I think when the flat was new it must have been lovely but it's sadly run down, especially the entrance which sets your expectations low. The flat it was not clean- there was toothpaste and hair all over the sink, there was mud or food splattered up the kitchen sides, it was absolutely covered in dog hair and there were stains on the bed. Bar some bleach down the toilet I'm confident it wasn't cleaned. There was also a random screeching noise every couple of seconds in the bedroom which kept me awake. I tried to message the host but I got auto replies from the company and no help. I was unable to stay the second night due to cleanliness and noise. I requested a refund and was sent all over the show trying to speak to someone. I'm really thankful I booked through air BnB as they resolved this for me. I love Whitby and will visit again but I definitely won't be staying here, I will however use air BnB who were great.

a great place to stay within walking distance of the harbour. A short walk along the road to the left to the beach perfect for the pooch.Found a car park within a 2 minute walking distance from the apartment so easy to unload. the apartment was cosy and warm with everything needed.

Great central apartment- light airy and a view of the abbey over the roof tops - fabulous. Car park 5 mins walk away, easy check in, really quiet location , comfy bed = really good value . Only gripe would be bit earlier check in would be good I.e 2ish Thanks

Used host and stay several times now always found their properties as described clean and good value. Always quick to respond to any queries. Will be using them next time.

This was a great value flat, which was cheaper than a hotel room at the time. The only drawbacks were there was no cutlery that I could find, and the floors could do with a clean because when I arrived there was some debris and staining on the bedroom carpet. It maybe could do with some superficial touch-ups on the paint and footrest repairs. Otherwise a great location and has a spacious living room/kitchen with a view of the Abbey. It was a little noisy but this was explained by a sign about building works going on.

Stayed here last minute. Host very quick to message and check in was easy with good instructions. The place is bigger than the pictures make it look, it was just me staying and was more than ample for what I needed. Just off skinner street so very central to all of Whitby really. Would certainly stay again.

Perfect getaway Positive: Had a lovely time away in Whitby and this apartment was perfect. It’s right in the centre, it was clean and well taken care off. Perfect for a few nights away. Added bonus of a wine fridge too! Making us feel all nice and boujee. Bed was extremely comfortable, pressure from the shower was great. It had everything you need for a stay. Really great of them to note that there was a smell in the communal stairs but they had left information that there had been a leak of water and carpet has yet to be replaced. Little touches like that really make it. Would stay again Negative: I can only pick at the fact that there were only two pods of coffee for the Nespresso machine buttt you had the option of the instant coffee as well. I just like the Nespresso coffee 😂

My Partner and I stayed at The Abbey Hus from Monday till Friday. Upon arrival it was a straight forward check in, the stairs on the way up were very steep but was ok. The apartment was as described, beautiful abbey views. The bed was super comfy, and the shower was pleasant! We have a couple of small advisories/ feedback; The living room area has a beautiful bay window, I presume due to safety reasons you can’t open them, the room was very warm and could not get rid of food smell. It was stuffy in there the majority of our stay. Maybe provide a fan. The carpet in the bedroom was extremely dirty, we also noticed quite a lot of dust throughout the apartment, which is a shame as it is beautiful. We were provided with two sachets of coffee and tea ( we were there for 4 nights ), and a coffee machine with no provided pods. I don’t see the point in having the coffee machine if there’s no pods provided? Personally, the little personal touches make the stay far more enjoyable.

was a really nice place to stay but for the amount we payed it didn't feel very personal of a location, alot of the air bnb hosts tend to be very accommodating but all the messages were very auto and there was nothing in the room to greet us which didn't add any touch of personality. for the accident and damage amount you pay for insurance almost feels like a set up as I we was worried the whole time as the furniture wasnt the most sturdy, the sofa feels abit jenky me and my friend are are slim so I do worry anyone bigger then us may end up breaking a leg then may end up been charged for this?, also the bar stool was damaged on arrival and stains in the bedroom. very nice views and location amazing but wish it wasn't priced as high with the lack of personality? honestly though that's an easy fix it is a beautiful home

Some may ask why I chose to stay here again after my last visit in July. Well we had already pre booked so thought maybe they’ll have improved issues. They THANKFULLY have amended the carpet to flooring in the hall & fixed the main door locks. Props to that. BUT broken glass left under the sofa was extremely dangerous to crawling baby and dog. Also empty water bottle under bed… do you not have cleaners check these key things? Host&Stay correspondent Charlie as per usual very apologetic for all issues but feels very fake in communication and nothing is ever actually resolved. We pre booked when they had parking (which was a big factor in our choice of property having a dog and a baby) but they decided to get rid of this amenity … think given we had pre booked this should have been honoured. Bathroom time sensitive light is a nightmare for getting up and waking the baby! A lamp in the bedroom for less direct light would be ideal! Again why only 3 plates / forks? No glasses? Uh.

Positive: Location was good, close to amenities but not central enough to be noisy. Negative: The hall when you walked through the front door had a musty smell and the bedroom carpet needed a clean.

Avoid booking this accommodation at all costs Positive: There was only one thing that we liked about the property and that was the view of the Abbey from the living room window. Negative: The property is extremely dirty, stains on the bedroom carpet. The WiFi didn't work for the whole of our stay. The cooker and cooker hood didn't work either. The windows in the bedroom are broken. There is nothing good to say about this property.

Good location everything else sub par. Positive: The bed was comfy and the location was good. Negative: The WiFi didn’t work at all during our stay, the carpets in the bedroom had multiple stains and the bedding was also slightly stained on the mattress cover. The tv also didn’t work apart from the normal tv channels despite the promise of Netflix and other tv channels. We also had to re clean the kitchen when we arrived as there was food in the sink and then when we wanted to add freezer food to the freezer it was covered in ice so couldn’t actually put anything in there.

We feel let down... Positive: The location of the Host & Stay is great, and the views are visually pleasing. Overall the room itself was decent. Negative: The WiFi didn't work for the entire duration of our stay. Water leaked through the ceiling, damaging our property and posing a severe risk to me and my partner.

It was nice stay and we did plenty of things. Positive: It was a lovely open plan apartment and it’s had everything you need for a vacation. The location was good for getting around. Negative: The carpet and the sofa could do with a good clean and I don’t think it had been Hoover. The shower doors leaked really bad.

disappointing Positive: The location was perfect, the check in instructions were easy to follow. Negative: The entrance and carpet leading to the apartment are honestly disgusting. They set the tone for our initial impressions. Equally after getting into the apartment, we found that the sofa's are in the same condition as the carpet in the corridor, as is the carpet in the bedroom. Over all, the pictures that depict the property when booking are not a true reflection of the actual apartment upon arrival. Had the photo's shown the real state of property, I would not have booked.

We spent just 2 hours in Abbey Hus, before securing alternative accommodation due to the filthy state of the place. The bedroom carpet was a literal carpet of hair and fur, the bedding was stained and covered in hair. The sofa and chair were disgusting; food debris under the cushions had clearly built up over years, not weeks. Kitchen utensils still had food on them. Unless you enjoy living in a hovel, I suggest you do not book this accommodation. I contacted the owners as soon as we arrived and saw the property, they requested photographs, which were sent over and despite the AI messages “apologising”, a refund has not yet been received. I am now dealing directly with Air BnB. We’d like to thank Steve and Jo at Broomfield House for booking us in at short notice.

Lovely place in the perfect location

01 August - 06 August Positive: Location was excellent, close to main facilities. Bed was comfy. Negative: Strong smell of urine on sofa. Also multiple stains on the sofas. We've had to try and remove the stains. Lots of stains on the bedroom carpet which look like dirty paw prints from a dog. No cutlery provided in kitchen. We've had to purchase. Bathroom is mouldy, grime around the shower seals. Carbon monoxide alarm placed in a cupboard below to TV.

Positive: Lovely and spacious living room. Great location and view of the Abbey. Negative: Cleanliness wasn't the best. The sofas were covered in stains. And you could tell it hadn't been swept or hoovered very well.

Wonderful little flat in the heart of Whitby. Perfect for a couple of nights and a really gorgeous open space with a view of the Abbey! So affordable and responsive host. Will definitely be returning!

We really enjoyed our time in Whitby. We love the location of Abbey Hus. Having a washing machine was a game changer. And the view of the Whitby Abbey was amazing. The place could use just a little more cleaning/tidying up.

No cutlery, pans need updating, nowhere to dry or hang your clothes, bathroom needs updating not very clean had to clean before we used the toilet shower and sink. Really lovely apartment in a fabulous location but needs some improvements Positive: The property is in a great location and is really modern and decorated beautifully with huge potential to be great. Negative: It was really lacking with the cleaning, I’m not one to be super particular but I really felt that the place needs a really deep clean. I opened the washing machine one day and it was evident that it’s not been checked in months as there was a really really furry mouldy bath mat and something else that was growing mould on it too. The bathroom needs a deep clean as well. Overall I think cleaners need to spend more time checking things over and ensuring that the place is genuinely clean and ready for guests

Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing overall. The property was not as clean or well maintained as expected — the cookware had visible food residue left on it, the sofa had noticeable stains, and there were even footprints visible in the shower upon arrival, which raised concerns about the overall cleanliness of the property. Communication from the host was also poor, as messages and concerns raised during the stay went unanswered. In addition, the parking information in the listing was misleading, which caused unnecessary stress and inconvenience upon arrival. With better attention to cleanliness, maintenance, communication, and accurate listing details, this property could offer a much better experience for future guests.

Lovely place, wouldn’t stay with this provider again. Positive: Location was lovely. Negative: Heating did not work. No hot water which was meant to be on demand. No cutlery. Wardrobe couldn’t even fit a shirt in properly. Carpet was also rather dirty. Called the host twice in regards to the hot water, waited in a queue of 3 both times for 5 and 12 minutes each call only to be hung up on before I could even speak.

Abbey Hus was in a great location, just a 5 minute walk to the harbour, and a great view of the abbey. The kitchen was well equipped and the property looked like the photos. However, we were extremely disappointed in how dirty it was. The whole reason we booked an Airbnb over a hotel was so we could cook instead of eating out but we were actually put off using the kitchen at all. The bedside tables were covered in a thick layer of dust and hair, the bathroom looked like it’d had a quick wipe down (with dust and hair in the sink and shower too). The bedsheets had a hole in them and we hardly dared look when we got in bed. If we could have afforded it we would’ve stayed elsewhere the second night. I’ve read some more reviews since and Host and Stay’s responses all seem to be AI which is disappointing - other reviews about cleanliness obviously haven’t been taken on board. Would not recommend, lovely property let down by poor cleanliness.

I lovely overnight stay. Parking was easy to find and the list sent was most useful. Property was as described and expected , great location for Whitby centre. Honestly couldn’t fault it.

A gorgeous place to stay in a beautiful town, the flat was a good side with comfy bed and amenities, the bathroom shower was a rain shower which was lovely. The kitchen was well stocked and nice little touches included a wine fridge. Good views over the abbey and not noisy even with it being on the main road. Will consider if to come back to the area

Positive: Very modern apartment. Negative: Check in too late. Check out too early. No knifes & forks. Bedroom window needs replacing it was windy on our second night unable to sleep because of the howling noise coming through it. Had to sleep on settee in living room.

Negative: I would prefer a slightly earlier check in time but understand this is down to the cleaning schedule.

Positive: Beautiful location and really nice flat Negative: Advertised as having a free parking scratch card (confirmed by Charlie), I had to park 20 minutes walk away up a steep hill to find free parking. Normal parking in local car parks £12 a day. The shower also leaks onto the floor quite badly. The lack of hanging space was really annoying, i.e., nowhere to hang coats or towels and the rail in the wardrobe being too close to the rear of wardrobe so that the coat hangers don't fit in correctly

Not bad but needs a bit of attention. Positive: Location is great. Living room was nice with a good view. Negative: Strong smell through the property. Stains on bedroom floor. Automatic bathroom light turned on several times during the night waking us up. Shower leaked over bathroom floor.

Great location and the quality of the apartment reflected the price of the stay. Everything in the apartment has been fitted out to a pristine standard, however we agree with some previous reviews that some areas need some TLC. Because of the minimalist nature of the decor, unfortunately there are some carpet stains and marks on walls that stand out perhaps more than you would usually notice - nothing a lick of paint or stain remover couldn't handle. Would have given 5 stars had these areas been spotless. Overall we had a great stay, with good facilities, and an outstanding view of Whitby Abbey. Can only apologise again about forgetting to return the keys to the key box - we realised 30 mins after we had checked out on our last day. Communication with the hosts was always prompt and they were very understanding about this. Thank you again.

Property suffers from water ingress leading to a musty smell. Water damage needs to be addressed in property entrance and with some interior TLC the property will be back to its best.

Was absolutely ruined by how unclean it was Positive: Absolutely filthy. We had to buy are own brush to clean floors. Complained as soon as we could about how dirty the place was. Lots of emails calls. Cleaner came out. Did nothing. Promised by the office we would hear from them in two weeks after investigating even although they saw the photos and videos and agreed it was bad. Moth past I did not hear anything. So email them again told them I’d report them .. we then got half the amount it cost to stay back as a refund!! My advice is check reviews before booking to see if it’s been cleaned Negative: The furniture etc was lovely if it had been looked after and cleaned. Urine stain on sofa. Bedroom carpet lots of very large stains can imagine what from. cooker very dirty. Floors walls very dirty. Dust everywhere. Entrance stairs filthy I could go on and on.

Great views, modern and spacious apartment Positive: Very spacious living room and kitchen area, brilliant view of Whitby Abbey Ruins. Location is perfect if you don't mind the hill walks and right by plenty of great cafes, restaurants and independent shops. Wine fridge was a fantastic touch. Apartment is very aesthetically pleasing. Negative: The room does need some TLC. Mould/Damp in the corner of the shower. Shower door leaks all over the bathroom floor. Doors to the living room and bedroom do not close, minor inconvenience but just needs the locks adjusting. Carpet on the stairs leading to the apartment is loose and off the grippers in multiple places, something to keep an eye on to prevent any incidents. Also needs more 'normal' drinking glasses as we only had wine glasses... too posh for a glass of water

Weekend away in Whitby. Positive: Central in location but also quiet . Good in size . Comfortable bed. Negative: Needs a deep clean , carpets were stained. The en suite light is on a sensor which can disturb sleepers in the night . The shower leaks and there’s no where to hang/dry wet towels . Mould in the shower on tiles and ceiling .

This was a fantastic place to stay in the heart of Whitby! Very comfortable flat with everything you’d need for a great stay. Communication was great and ease of access too. Keep in mind Whitby is very hilly and this flat is upstairs so make sure you’ve got something left in the tank when you walk back.

Great location and comfortable Positive: The accommodation was clean and was an excellent location. Slight case of style over substance- for example no coat hooks, no basics such as milk. The staircase is steep. I felt that the late check in (4pm) and early check out (10am) was not right it should be an hour earlier and an hour later. This apartment is in a great location and is comfortable for a long weekend.

We had a lovely stay in Whitby. Pictures were accurate, amenities were good and the view of the abbey was fantastic. The apartment was clean, as others have mentioned, it could benefit from a few touch ups on the walls from where previous guests have not been very careful, but this doesn’t take away from your stay at all. The stairs up to the apartment are quite steep, so bear this in mind if this is something you consider. Overall a lovely stay and would definitely recommend for the view and location! Some amazing breakfast spots close by!

Positive: Everything was beautiful...maybe more than two little capsules of milk so we could have the had a brew in the morning without having to find a shop would have been nice ..no use putting enough condiments to make 50 brews and only enough milk to make 2..? Negative: We had no information about the parking situation..we was asking people around the streets what to do..one person who had just arrived also told us to go to our room ..he said there must be a welcome pack..with a token in it for the parking?? There was nothing like that..letters on lampposts? Certain zones for some people etc..we had no idea and no information..we ended up parking on the train station carpark for £30..thats a hell of a walk with all your bags...some information regarding that would be nice for you future tenants

Disappointing!!! Positive: Bright and airy apartment. Modern Great location Hot water and good water pressure in shower. Stripped bed on departure and mattress protector/ bedding surprisingly clean. Negative: Security light needed outside main door for when it is dark. Street is pitch black and risk of trips. Stairway leading to apartment smells extremely foisty ( also smelt of weed - guessing one of the guests in the other apartment was smoking it). Stairway carpet dirty and very worse for wear, walls also mucky. Broken bin in apartment (read this on another review, obviously hasn't been resolved). Furniture has seen better days, stained sofa etc. Fingerprints/ grubby marks on walls/ kitchen. Stains on carpets. Bathroom was moldy and could have done with some bleaching. The dust on ths radiators/ skirting boards, lamps etc were on another level. Highly disappointed in our stay and unfortunately we won't be returning or recommending this to anyone else. Desperately in need of some TLC and a deep deep clean by cleaners that care.

Positive: So mych space lots off light. Every you could as for washer/ dishwasher even dishwasher tablets . Coffee machine even different pods . Close to main centre. Will definitely return. Negative: Wasn't a problem for us but quite a lot of stairs. Could do with some drawers for clothes. Could also do with a light on outside door.

Nice little get away Positive: Location was great, very spacious and modern. Negative: Could have been a lot cleaner, the skirting boards were dusty and bathroom could have used a bit of bleach and tlc. A few stains on the carpet in the bedroom also. Some things were damaged such as the bin in the kitchen (sounds picky but cheap enough to replace) and the coffee table was broken as if people had put their foot through. Cutlery was dirty had to wash this before using. No parking passes left but luckily we know the area well and only cost us £20 for the weekend.

Fabulous view of the Abbey Positive: Excellent location, modern apartment with all the facilities you could need. Well stocked kitchen , even a coffee machine. Comfortable seating ,stylish decor. Spotlessly clean. Brilliant view of tge Abbey Negative: Light in bathroom on a timer - a little frustrating when showering or shaving. Could do with a couple of hooks to hang coats. Also a little shelf in shower cubicle to hold your soap shampoo . Only minor adjustments.

Overall Abby Haus was a great choice for a short stay away. The apartment is easy to access from a security perspective but is up steep steps so worth being aware. The condition of the flat isn’t exactly like the images with some staining on carpets, dirt under the sofa and in between the cushions and poor care on some hard fixings. But overall good. Easily walkable to lots of cafes and bars. Would recommend for future guests and also suggest a deep clean to the owners.
