Great property for a short dog friendly get away! Positive: Great place, great location. Really has everything you need for a short getaway and more. I saw reviews complaining about the parking spot being too small, and it's absolutely fine (VW T Cross for car size reference). Plenty of parking on the street out front if you're not confident parking. Kitchen had everything you could think of. Nice quiet location for a good nights sleep.

Located at the end of a quiet alley yet also close to town. It's a narrow alley but we got my car parked outside the property too. Fantastic that we were able to stay with our pup.

We booked last minute and the communication was great. We found the property after a little confusion but managed. The parking is a struggle ( a car was already parked and only enough space for one car) so recommend parking on the street as the drive very narrow and can’t turn around. There was no charge. We parked near pharmacy / cafe. Barnard castle was a lovely place to walk and plenty of shops and bars. Although if you want good food the higher quality bars and restaurants they don’t allow dogs, but the pubs do. Some served food too but just pub grub. Dales place has everything you need to cook. With Morrisons just minutes walk away it’s perfect. The apartment was warm and cosy even on one of the coldest weekends. We had a lot of snow which looked picturesque. Great stay.

Despite the annoyances we did enjoy our stay as the cottage was in an excellent position and was comfortable. Positive: Location. Being a few metres from the town. It has been decorated in a modern, trendy way, though there are areas where form comes before function. O first glance looks great but needs some tidying up, lots of scuffs and knocks, we found some just wiped off, others like the fat splashes around the hob have soaked into the paint.( Wrong paint used) Negative: The outside parking alleyway had a lot of weeds. On arrival we we found grubby crockery and glasses that needed washing before use. Having paid a cleaning fee this was annoying. Generally grubby. There was no broom or dust pan and brush and the vacuum cleaner was hopeless even after we cleaned the filter. We take a pet with us and like to keep our accommodation clean and tidy and like to leave it so. No cleaning materials were provided. Water pressure was low. Storage was minimal.

The house was in a great location close to town centre and easily accessible, the parking was a bit tight and we did query allocated parking spots as it advises there are 2 spots but also 2 spots for house next door … definitely not enough space for 4 cars in driveway. We found communication to be very generic and found that our questions/queries were not addressed satisfactorily, however check-in instructions were spot on. House was not massively clean on arrival with dusty floors and pet hairs on furniture. This was disappointing as we arrived with kids so needed to do a clean, thankfully we had family close by to lend us a vacuum and cleaning supplies. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Barny as we were visiting family so the house served as a base for that.

Positive: The location was great, very peaceful and centrally located. The house was comfortable and clean, with ample sofa rooms. Negative: The bedrooms have skylights with no blinds, which make summer sleeping difficult. They really should install black out blinds, as the main windows give ample light. Also, the upper windows had spider's webs - they should be cleaned away. The kitchen had no cupboard space for food, and not having a washing machine could be an issue for families staying more than a few nights.

It was amazing and the Mews was the cherry 🍒 the cake definitely recommend and stay there againon the cake definitely st Positive: On arrival it was cold so the fact heating was on was a great welcome Negative: Absolutely nothing to dislike but my husband is fussy and there was no iron in the property so we bought one and left it for others to use maybe an ironing board ??

Tuve un problema de no saber cómo cerrar la puerta con llave y tuve que llamar varias veces para que me dieran solución (que era un truco muy fácil que quizás haya que explicar ) Hay dos cosas que me gustaron menos: 1) no hay flexibilidad para entrar un poco antes de las 16:00 ni siquiera para dejar las maletas. 2) te obligan a pagar un seguro o dejar en depósito una cantidad alta, me parece correcto pero es bueno que se indicara en la descripción de la casa para que lo tengas en cuenta en tu decisión

Very comfortable and a good position . Positive: A well planned, equipped, comfortable property.👍 Negative: Very little, it worked well for the 2 of us.👍

We enjoyed our stay at this property. It is in an ideal position near the centre of the town but tucked away so it is very quiet. It was warm, clean and tidy. Having two ensuite bedrooms was ideal for our party - 2 couples. There is room for 2 cars (with a bit of toing and froing!).

This was a short stay with my son who was working close to Durham. The property was very clean and comfortable. The only Positive: The property was very clean, and had everything you needed. Great fridge freezer, but should be in the description. Negative: The water in the shower went cold after a few minutes in both rooms. No terrestrial tv.

Great host and accommodation was spotless and very modern. Our team loved it and will look to book again in the future if we have work nearby!

Lovely place in a great location.\n\nUnfortunately, we experienced ongoing issues with the hot water. Initially there was no hot water at all, and later there was only enough for one person to have a hot shower, while the other two had lukewarm showers on Christmas Day.\n\nDue to the lack of adequate hot water for all of us, we ended up leaving a day early. The host was quick to respond and asked several questions to try to identify the issue, as there was heating but no hot water in the showers and only lukewarm water in the kitchen. However, the problem was not resolved during our stay.\n\nWe have logged a complaint and are still waiting to hear back.

A lovely property within walking distance of all of the amenities of Barnard Castle. Situated in a quiet mews it was surprisingly spacious and really comfortable. Very well equipped and clean kitchen. It was a superb stay and the easy communication with the host/agency was great which made the whole stay much more relaxing. Thank you.

Family visit Positive: Very well catered for. Easy parking, ideally located. Any questions answered promptly. Negative: There was nothing we didn't like.

Very central with all the facilities needed in the house. Comfortable seats and beds, and en-suites were very handy. Very little storage to keep clothes etc and would benefit from some drawers or shelves, although there isn't much space for furniture as bedrooms are small ( but adequate!)

Test your own eyes at Barnard Castle Positive: Good communication from the host for entry to the property and a useful app with information about the property and the local area. Good location, close to town and with a coffee shop just outside the door. A well equipped kitchen with pretty much everything you need, including tea, coffee and sugar. Lovely, large tea and coffee mugs. Attractively furnished and decorated. Lots of free street parking available - there is onsite parking but it is a little awkward to use. Negative: The electric hob needs clearer instructions to use. There needs to be recycling facilities available. The kitchen knives need sharpening. The two seater settee in the living room needs some reupholstering as it's uncomfortable. The shower door in the ensuite bathroom fits not close fully.

Very enjoyable stay despite poor weather. Positive: Location and privacy Negative: Dust under radiators and bits around the edge of living room and toilets. Small noggle but overall excellent.

Great value for money

Great location, comfortable and well decorated house, needs some small practicalities sorting. Positive: Local amenities. Good fo visiting local attractions Food options in area excellent. Museums and castle were within walking distance Parking was on site Negative: The Wifi was non existent in the 82F property and poor in the 82G property. The TV had no terrestrial channels and due to the wifi not being available none of the streaming services could be used either. The skylights in the bedrooms need a blind and the bedside tables need more space which would be helped if the lights were on the walls rather than on the table The beds are also a little small, I'm assuming they are not full size doubles.

Good evening, I don’t mind giving some feedback on our stay. The accommodation itself was lovely and the location was Positive: Lovely two bedroom apartment, clean location great Negative: Furniture in living room so uncomfortable, not enough essential items toilet paper towels, tea towel. No pillow protection on. Bedroom door would not shut properly.

Positive: Everything about the accommodation was as described. Super clean, fabulous communication, great location...lovely and quiet. Highly recommend Negative: We had no complaints

Brilliant location, near shops and pubs. Parking very tight, especially with other cars at next door property. One drawback, and a big drawback, no blinds on two skylights in one bedroom, like sleeping under floodlights,so bright. Good value for money though. Would stay again if they iron out a few problems, sent dm to owner. Recommend.

Great base to explore Positive: Location excellent, everything we needed there. Comfy beds, great facilities lovely decor. Excellent communication easy to check in and out Negative: Would have liked king size beds

Untrustworthy Positive: The location was ideal. Negative: Bedrooms were a bit on the small side due to them having the ensuite facilities. We didn't like that items went missing after our stay. We packed in a hurry due to a family emergency. In the rush my elderly father left some items of clothing (all brand new). When I enquired about these items I was told there wasn't anything found. Despite me contacting them straight away and before anyone else including the cleaners had gone in they said nothing was found. I told them exactly where the items had been left but they still say nothing was found. We left at 5.30pm on the Sunday, we were due to leave by 10am Monday morning. I contacted them before 9am Monday but the items were nowhere to be seen. I'm sorry but I don't believe that for a moment but if someone needs to take an elderly man's clothing then I hope they enjoy them. Would never recommend host and stay to anyone based on the lack of trust we have experienced.

Ok place, would have been better with hot water. Positive: Good location , would be an ok property if it had hot water on our visit. Parking not easy. Negative: No hot water. Boiler had a problem, they were aware of, as it was due a return visit, but not until after we left. Also had a message from maintenance saying the new boiler was due in a couple of days, but not fitted during our visit! 6 nights from late May bank holiday Monday, very warm weather, cold showers only. THEY COULD HAVE TOLD US AS THEY KNEW OF PROBLEM! Property would have been fine if water was hot. The limited private parking was ok as only our car, an average estate, however entrance to driveway so very narrow, and you can’t get out if anyone parks even just slightly over the entrance . Could turn round at property, however only possible if one car in the drive. Host and stay probably not owners of property, very quick to respond to messages however didn’t sort our problem. Been home 3 weeks, finally offered a measly refund and discount on future stay!

Lovely Airbnb tucked away within a quiet alleyway near to amenities within the town. The place was clean and had all facilities we required for me and my colleague to use the space for our work trip. Beds were comfy and showers took a while to heat up although found we didn't need them to be so hot with the heatwave, thank you!

This property is located in the centre of the town close to everything. It is well furnished and immaculately clean. However, two things spoiled our visit. Firstly the shower in the main bathroom was cold every morning. When we contacted the hosts, they told us that this could not be adjusted. This was a major inconvenience. Secondly and alarmingly the front door is key operated both sides with only one key. Under UK fire safety regulations that took effect on 1 October 2023, it is compulsory for all self-catering accommodation to have exit doors that are easily openable from the inside without a key. Thumb turn locks or similar quick-release mechanisms are required to ensure immediate, safe evacuation during emergencies. This was reported to the host and we strongly urge future Guests to check that this has been corrected.

We had a great time and enjoyed our stay. Positive: Location was perfect and we could walk to all the local shops/cafe easily. Negative: We struggled like others had, (as per reviews) with the hot water. We found a workaround but specific information as a laminated information sheet to address this issue would be useful. A file with the app information would have been helpful to refer to.

Nice accommodation and enjoyable stay. Positive: Well furnished with all you needed. Good location, no noise. Negative: Shower temperature was not very good. Rather luke warm. TV didn’t work properly.

Very disappointing stay. Positive: The property was clean and in a good location. Negative: No hot water in the property. The agent did respond to our concerns quickly, but did not deal with the problem, a fast response does not mean good customer service.

Frustrated Positive: Perfect location, awesome house, very clean and well decorated. Negative: The water was cold, showers wouldn’t get hot, even after contacting the host, what he suggested didn’t work, I contacted them again and still wouldn’t work, cold showers are not great.

Good use of space Negative: It was a bit tight going up to park next to the cottage the driveway between the shops just say got car through. Think it should say in booking details.

Positive: Great location close to amenities. House suited our needs fitted the description. Negative: Showers were not hot. Need another tea towel and hand towel in kitchen. We bought a steamer stack which we left in the kitchen.

Fantastic place to stay, the accomodation was really lovely and well decorated with everything you would need provided even tea, coffee and milk. Very comfortable and wash bedroom has it's own en suite which is fantastic. Barnard Castle is a lovely town, lots of places to eat and drink, and very handy for local attractions. Charlie the host was really helpful and friendly. Highly recommended.

Enjoyed the cottage and Barnard Castle Positive: Cottage was beautiful inside ,decor modern,loads of space to move about Bathrooms done to a high standard can't fault anything in this cottage Easy walk into Barnard Castle and all items amenities great locations Negative: The entrance to to house is via a ginnel between the shops on the main street,people should be warned it's very tight and no turn around spaces .I had a small car and I struggled be aware any one with a large car it would be really tight near impossible to get up and down I would recommend parking on the road

Convenient for the town and comfortable place to stay Positive: It was well located for the places we were visiting and for looking around Barnard Castle. Very tidy and smartly decorated. Negative: Finding the property and parking were a little tricky but due to the fact that we were travelling all day we did not get to read the arrival instructions until we were in the property, it would have been useful to have had something a little earlier. I had concerns about the front door locking mechanism and could have used an instruction manual for the cooker. One of the two bedrooms had high windows with no curtains or blinds which meant it was quite light in the early hours.

Lovely holiday let we really enjoyed our stay, the only issue we had was parking it wasn’t easy but we managed with a bit of manoeuvring.

Negative: Chose this property because it had off street parking. However it wasn't mentioned that it was a very narrow alley, made narrower because of scaffolding either side. Very convenient location. Nicely decorated but the sofa was not very comfy.

A very lovely and comfortable place to stay. Clean and modern and nice and private. Unfortunately we were in the area for a funeral so never got to explore the area, however it is just a minutes walk to the main high street with shops, cafe's and pubs. Very convenient. Having been to Barnard Castle many times I know this place would be ideal to use as a base to explore the local area which there is plenty to do and see.

Very easy to book and pay for. Negative: Not a lot to dislike apart from the kitchen could have been a little cleaner. If there had been a bottle of spray cleaner, it would have been handy.

Good but could be better Positive: Spacious, well equipped kitchen Negative: Some dusty corners and cobwebs around.. hasn't been cleaned thoroughly. Size of bed is a bit small. Boiler didn't work on our last day causing us to unable to shower until we had to speak to someone from H&S. Having to pay for UNREFUNDABLE damage waiver was a big minus for the property. Maybe if they had less unnecessary ornaments around the house then they wouldn't have to ask for damage waiver fee.

Positive: Lovely home, clean tidy and very comfortable decor was very nice. Everything needed was available Negative: Parking isnt great. But that didn't spoil our stay

The house is clean and comfortable. it's perfect for a few days. the lack of storage in the kitchen however (every cupboard is taken up with crockery/pans etc) means that it really isn't suitable for more than a brief getaway as there is absolutely nowhere(apart from the decent sized fridge) to put food out of sight. Unfortunately, due to a boiler problem which I am sure has now been resolved, we did not have hot water throughout our stay and this was reported to the host. There was good communication however and they did try to resolve this problem asap. Sadly it wasn't resolved before we had to check out but it does look as though we are getting a refund so I think the way it was dealt with was very effective and I am satisfied with that.

Great place to stay

Brilliant comfortable stay close to the heart of Barnard Castle Positive: The location of the property was perfect, with the property located down a quiet side street but under 5 minutes from the main high street to access all amenities and see the sights. The lockbox was simple and easy to use and the property had been set up ready for our arrival. The home was lovely with comfort and ease of guests really well thought through and the online guide included everything we needed to have a great stay including local spots to see, or dine at. In all, we had a really brilliant and comfortable stay. Thank you. Negative: There is limited storage at the property, which wouldn't be a problem for guests staying for long weekends or short breaks, and rails and hangers are included still.

Nunca más Host & Stay. Mala comuncacion con host, pésima iluminación, estacionamiento ocupado. Negative: Imposible de contactar al anfitrión. Tuve que llamar muchas veces. Nunca me enviaron la información para poder ingresar a la casa. Tuve que esperar horas afuera intentando que contestaran el teléfono, hasta que lo logré. Muy mala iluminación, debido a que las cortinas roller estaban malas y no funcionaban (ninguna). Tuve que subir arriba de sillas altas cada día para subirlas a mano y así lograr tener algo de luz. Se dijo que tenía estacionamiento, y éste estaba ocupado todo el tiempo. Tuve que buscar afuera. Muy mala experiencia. No lo recomiendo.

Positive: Nice house Negative: Nothing

Negative: The light bulb in the kitchen was flashing constantly so you could put the light on. DVD player not connected and didnt reach the plug socket without unplugging everything and moving them around. No batteries in the DVD remote control so had to swap the TV remote batteries back and forwards to use DVD and TV. Received 4 emails gently reminding us to leave by 10am. 4 emails is NOT a gentle reminder but constant badgering. having to pay and extra £25 or pay £250 which you get back within 28days is and unpleasant addition not exactly highlighted when you book.Loved the accommodation just not impressed with host and stay as they're not maintaining their accommodation and badgering customers.

Positive: Clean & tidy, in a side passage off a busy through road but convenient for access to shops & restaurants. Able to park car outside. Negative: Entrance passage dirty, overgrown and littered. Rooms dark with poor natural lighting. Some lights needed replacing & one flickered constantly.

Great house with 2 double bedrooms with en suit in both. Perfect location and parking. Very clean and has everything you need.

Very pleasant and relaxing. Location was ideal for the town. Positive: Very comfortable and had all you need for a few days away. Negative: Nothing to dislike, perhaps consider putting a washing machine in the garage but other than that all good.

Lovely stay and we will definitely use again. Positive: Lovely apartment, ideally located and every amenity catered for. Parking in the alley was a bit tight but we managed to park in the street without any problems. Nice little deli at the end of the road for breakfast too. Would stay again.

Very very disappointed with the service and the quality of accommodation Positive: The property was fairly well located and close to the High Street and Morrison’s Negative: initially there was a lot of confusion about the damage waiver being paid or not. I had paid it and I had even submitted the payment receipt to host in stay but when I called them one hour before my arrival, they said I don’t have access to the property because I haven’t paid the damage waiver. Complete miscommunication and breaking down of communication at their end. This caused me a lot of stress. The second problem with the property was that if you have a big car like I do you cannot take the car in to where the main door is which means you have to carry luggage and other things like Morrisons shopping all the way in which is quite a distance and not conducive specially if you have elderly parents with you, which I did. Third issue I thought was very important and relevant, that there is no toilet on the main level . Both our ensuite, so if you are chilling in the living room and you have, especially older guests like I did they have to go up to the ensuite in order to use facilities. This is not mentioned in the description and if it was I would have never chosen this property. There was a spotlight flickering in the kitchen on top of the fridge area and it was not a very pleasant feeling. They have a window in the roof and dad does not have any kind of blind so when you are sleeping and it’s sunrise at 4:30 am I was advised that you take a sleeping mask or you will be wide-awake. also a basic thing like a fairy liquid and a sponge was not available for us to wash dishes. There were literally two drops of fairy liquid.

Positive: Accommodation was really good. Location great. Negative: Very disappointed having to pay insurance for cleaning/breakages after we had already paid in full (non refundable) for accommodation. We were advised we would not get key til it was paid!!! This was like the hidden extras on a flight. Price u pay should be final.price. just put it in the list price, not as an extra. I've never paid this before and I've used booking.com for years.

Nice area, but things need improvement. Negative: Parking access, sometimes block by others. Metal chairs at dining table, cold and very uncomfortable. Heating only came on at 2am, cold during the day and evening. Tv unable to get channels. All films netflix etc. Could see no news or weather updates.

really nice place to stay. nice and tucked away but in the middle of the town. spotless and really well kept home felt like it was home from home
