The house itself is beautiful, well presented, and clearly cared for. The OWNER was responsive and kind, with many thoughtful touches throughout the property. However, our stay was seriously impacted by poor communication and handling from Host & Stay. We were explicitly assured prior to arrival that a baby cot would be provided. On arrival, it became clear the owner had never confirmed this and did not have a cot available at all. As a result, we were forced to resolve an essential infant safety requirement ourselves, travelling to Argos in dark, snowy conditions with two small children. This caused significant stress and completely ruined our first night. While the owner reimbursed the cost of the cot, Host & Stay failed to respond, resolve the issue, or offer any compensation, despite the situation being raised immediately. When assurances are given — especially regarding infant safety — they must be reliable! Host and Stay completely let us down. Their customer service is appalling

What a brilliant find! This property is beautiful and very well appointed. Comfy beds, great services and an excellent host. Although now my children want a tv in the bath!! Great location, very quiet but so so handy to be able to get to everything in seconds on foot. The parking situation is no bother, there are so many short cuts through the yards it was fun seeing how close you could get. Only wish we’d have booked longer!

We had a wonderful stay at the Bakehouse and would highly recommend!! The cottage is lovely and cosy with the log fire. The attention to detail and specifications were super - the cottage has everything 🙂 it is very stylish. The kitchen was so well equipped - even down to a wine fridge. There is a tv in the bathroom to top off the huge shower and deluxe tub - everything has been thought through and the stay felt like a real treat. The location is great - literally a minute from the harbour and stunning views. The shops and restaurants are on the doorstep. The hosts were really attentive and we enjoyed the welcome pack. We took family as a weekend treat and everything was perfect. Thank you for such a wonderful stay 😁😁 Shelley & Xander

11 Bakehouse was perfect for our little Easter break. The welcome goodies, cleanliness of the house, proximity to everything was just what we needed. The kids loved it too. We would definitely recommend Whitby and 11 Bakehouse. Thank you for a great stay 😊

Positive: The owners were fantastic from start to finish and provided everything we needed for our stay, there was also a treat basket which was a lovely touch on arrival, me and my wife wouldn't hesitate to book again in the future. Negative: There was nothing we didn't like.

Really nice place. Recently done to a high standard. Central location with everything within walking distance and a handy car parking permit provided. Well equipped and great for couples or families.

very lovely luxery cottage but would suit better for three people Positive: very clean and modern cottage with all facilitys, the only thing was the seating, 3 barstools on the dining area where the cottage is for four people so one need to eat in the sofa, the cottage has a good location only not for those with mobility problems, we had a horrendous amouth if steps to drag our luggage to the cottage, enter it from the other side next to the pub still gives one step to use and it was hard for us with mobility issues but I proberly had to look in to this better when I booked, we had the room with a double bed it could do with a bit more or higher wardrobe space also in the kitchen we missed storage space to putt our shoppings in. the bedroom is a nice large room with a soft mattress, there was a welcome packadge with some lovely items, we did miss the parking license it was hidden under a bag from our geusts, hadn't seen them so we had to pay a large amouth on parking, fantastic shower, bath I couldn't use because there was always someone who needed a toilet, would be great when you are only there as couple, nice soft carpets upstairs it's a very luxery cottage Negative: storage space and seating area, I don't like it someone can't sit around the table when you want eat together, I didn't like it we did enter the cottage from the wrong site and we had many steps to do, it's not a cottage you can use with mobility problems, but we still had a nice stay

My mum and dad stayed in the beautiful cottage for their wedding anniversary and they loved it, both mum and dad said how lovely and clean it was, the bed was so comfy, they had a mattress topper and since then have bought one, the cottage had everything you needed and was cosy and ward, perfect weekend for them both. My mum also struggles with her mobility and found access really good. Would highly recommend. The owners left beautiful touches and left a welcome basket which my parents loved x

Great stay and right in the heart of the town With an elderly person and a person with limited walking capabilities the location next to the harbour was perfect Would definitely stay again

Just stayed 3 nights and if you are looking for somewhere to stay in Whitby then we would definitely recommend staying here - centrally located, lovely immaculate cottage , with quality fixtures and fittings throughout made for a lovely short break. Host and Stay were responsive and pro-active in communicating throughout the stay so thanks to the team and Charlie. Would recommend the coastal walk to Robin hoods bay and food at Sneaton Castle

Really quiet , cosy and quirky little house.. very well equipped, everything you could need was close to hand .. Nice and local to lots of bars , restaurants and most importantly chip shops !! Really enjoyed our few days here, definitely recommend a stay here

Had amazing long weekend stay in Whitby. The accommodation was immaculate, cozy and very clean. You were made to feel at home with lovely Christmas decorations and treats as an unexpected added touch. Great central location. Parking in Whitby is a challenge for locals and visitors alike but the arrangements Host & Stay made worked well. Would absolutely recommend and will be back again soon!

Positive: The host has taken the time to think of everything that a guest might want, down to the umbrella by the door. As a couple staying the cottage was perfect in every way. We will 100% book again! I would suggest that it might be difficult for young children under 8 with the stairs. Negative: The parking was a bit of an issue, but nothing to make us overly worried!

Loved our little break with our grandchildren, we all enjoyed Whitby and the property is beautiful. Positive: 11 Bakehouse Yard is an exceptional property. We stayed, 4 nights with our two grandchildren, aged 14 & 11 and they loved it. The place is decorated and furnished beautifully. Spotlessly clean and well equipped. Negative: Parking was a little problematic for us. We are both in our early 70s now. I personally have mobility issues and not being able to park nearby was a major concern for me. We ended up having to park up a steep hill a few streets up from the accommodation, which wasn’t great…

Lovely stay with plenty of amenities for families with smaller children! Loved it!

The house was beautiful, had everything you needed and more, loads of little extra luxuries. The bed was comfortable. The huge bath tub was amazing. The location was fantastic. Upon arrival we spent 20 minutes searching for the parking permit scratch card - there wasn't one. cost us £44 for 5 days. All the floors were dirty with food crumbs, dust, sand etc. Hadn't been mopped either. We found the problem was the hoover they had used was completely blocked. We serviced the hoover and cleaned ourselves. Host & stay offered to send cleaners out to us, but didn't want anyone in there with my belongings. It has taken 2 weeks of multiple messages and emails with host and stay to say they will refund my parking and cleaners fee. Still waiting for it to go in my account. The customer service has been appalling with generated messages replies. Part from that we really did love the cottage and we had a lovely time away for our 20th anniversary.

Perfection Positive: Location was perfect and quiet. The cottage was excellently furnished. Very clean throughout. Lots of thoughtful touches ie milk and water in fridge, complementary shower gel etc, slippers, basket that had some biscuits, cake sweets in. Everything and more in the kitchen 🥰 Negative: N/A If I had to say something, my husband now wants a tv in the bathroom 🙄🤣🤣

11 Bakehouse is a beautifully appointed 2 bedroom cottage. Extremely comfortable and ideally located in a quiet alleyway, Shops, Pubs and restaurants are all a few steps away from the cottage. Everything we needed was available in the cottage. Our only gripe was the complexity of the shower and the fact that the shower head was jammed on the rail so couldn't be highered or lowered. In addition the shower head was loose and couldn't be tightened. (a small issue really). The king size bed in the master bedroom was extremely comfortable and all the linen and towels were fresh and good quality. We will definitely stay here again

A great, cosy and stylish stay! Positive: Beautiful place, lovely amenities like games, treats and everything you need for cooking or cleaning or washing like towels, tablets for dishwasher/washing machine, range of cooking utensils and coffee pods/teabags, etc! The bedrooms and living room felt so cosy and modern, had xbox in kids room if needed and tvs in bedrooms so if you wanted to chill away from main downstairs you can. The bathroom was stunning with the free standing bath and TV with the drinks tray over the bath - super relaxing! We LOVED staying here! It was right round the corner from the harbour/magpie, brilliant location 🥰 Negative: Nothing we didn't like. Would just say I think the dishwasher needed rinse aid as wasnt working 100% so we washed up where possible (thats not a problem to us or a bad thing just a heads up) and the hob was tricky to work out as I think a page is missing in the manual but once I googled it it was fine 🙂

Great place to stay in Whitby, really clean and well presented.

Beautiful cottage, a bit tricky to unload your belongings. But pretty close to the road. Parking is tricky, but that is Whitby in general, you struggle to park even with a blue badge. The cottage is really done to a high quality, comfortable bed, lovely squeaky clean kitchen and it felt like a home from home. Great nights sleep, comfortable beds, quiet, couldn't really ask for more. We'll definitely go back or use host and stay again. Highly recommend this place, didn't want to leave 😊

Well presented accommodation in a great location,loved the little extras and entertainment options. Parking was a problem and wasn’t able to use the parking permit provided due to the volume of people visiting . ( this was not Host & Stays fault but something to consider as it is not private parking and parking provided is not necessarily the closest / most convenient option. Great experience and would recommend.

Ok but spoilt by dirty unwashed floors Positive: Location was good Negative: The floors were absolutely filthy! My grandson dropped water on the floor, when I wiped it up I was disgusted to see the ingrained dirt on the wooden floor in the sitting room. My 2 year old grandson was filthy after sitting on the floor. They must not have been cleaned in a very long time.

The cottage is lovely and homely with lots of original features and in a great surprisingly quiet location. I would have given 5 stars however there isn’t any parking outside the property and I’m not sure if this was mentioned when booking through Expedia. Although a scratch card is provided which gets you free parking in the W zones however it does only last until 10am on the day of departure. Meaning if like me you want to make a bit more out of the final day you will have to pack your car up and move it to a pay & display zone by 10am. The other reason I didn’t give the full 5 stars was due to the floor in the main living/dining area not looking very clean on arrival (in fact it wasn’t i used some damp kitchen roll to wipe up some crumbs that my youngest had dropped on the floor and the tissue was pretty dirty!) also the main breakfast bar countertop didn’t look like it had been cleaned properly. It looked like it had been wiped down with a wet cloth and left to dry leaving it streaky and unclean in appearance. These were my only concerns however I found it difficult to overlook when it’s the first room you walk into. The welcome goodies and selection of teas and cleaning products were a nice touch. I wasn’t sure if these would be provided so did bring my own supplies but was able to take them home with me as they were not needed. I would have liked to have given this property 5 stars just a little disappointed with the initial impression of cleanliness as mentioned.

So Luxurious & Ideally Located Positive: The location was really central & we managed to get parking close by....the standard of accomodation was excellent, so many added touches including beverages, fresh milk in the fridge, sweet & savoury treats, it was really top notch, we loved it....sooo luxurious, even a tv in the bathroom ....we'll be back..... Negative: A couple of suggestions....could a couple of grab handles be added please? One to help with the steps at front door & one at the top of the first flight of stairs which lead to the bathroom & bedroom....the only other thing was a blackout blind on the next/top floor bedroom as the curtains let the light in.... Didn't like that its already booked for Goth Week end 😅

We had a fantastic week at Bakeyard Cottage and genuinely didn't want to leave! From the moment we arrived, we could see how much care had gone into the cottage. It was spotlessly clean, beautifully presented and had absolutely everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The location couldn't have been better. Everything in Whitby was within easy walking distance, so we were able to leave the car parked up and just enjoy wandering around the town, harbour and beaches whenever we wanted. Bakeyard Cottage really felt like a home away from home. It was cosy, comfortable and so well equipped that we never found ourselves needing anything. We would happily recommend it to anyone visiting Whitby. We'd love to come back again someday!

The cottage is in a great location. We unloaded, parked the car and easily walked everywhere we wanted to visit in Whitby. Very quiet at night. The cottage was very clean and well equipped and we had a really comfortable stay. Probably the best Airbnb place we've stayed in. Will definitely be back.

Negative: We didn’t stay there as our stay was cancelled on the day due to the boiler flooding so there was no hot water or heating.

We had a fantastic stay at Bakehouse Yard and will be likely to return. The property has been so well-modernised and was really comfortable. It was tastefully furnished, spotlessly clean and the whole experience felt very well-managed. Visitors need to have some understanding of the yards in Whitby and realise you do need to be reasonably mobile and be prepared to park your car away from the property - but the parking scratch card was really appreciated and walking around Whitby always burns off a few calories so you feel justified in enjoying the great places to eat nearby. There is a loading spot close to the bottom of the steps near the cottage when you arrive and leave. The cottage was very well-equipped and would be comfortable to stay in for a longer period of time.

Lovely cottage in a great location! Kitchen was the most equipped Airbnb we’ve ever stayed in so would be great for people who wish to stay in and cook. Parking was easy with the passes and whilst the cottage was in a central location, it was peaceful on an evening. Would recommend staying here for sure!

I cannot recommend the cottage enough. The location exceeded expectations and it’s such a comfortable property, newly renovated with every convenience. Took a few minutes to orientate around the location, the laneway and the parking but all great.. easy to figure out. It was absolutely fine for us but the staircase might be a challenge for those with mobility needs but that would be true of all the cottages in the immediate area probably. Me and my Mum were so happy on our Whitby road trip for her 80th birthday, could not have been better. Thank you!

We stayed at Bakehouse Yard 11 in April 26. We found the accommodation both clean and well equipped, centrally located for the attractions of Whitby. We thought parking could be an issue but with the provided parking permits it couldn’t have been simpler. (We used the loading bay on Haggarsgate to offload our bags initially) Thoroughly recommend this venue, we were a party of two but the apartment can sleep 4 with the additional second floor twin bedroom.

We had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend this place. It was very clean and well looked after, with plenty of essentials provided for cooking and cleaning, which made everything really easy and comfortable. The location was perfect too – very central and close to everything we needed. We’d happily stay here again!

The property was very clean and well equipped and the refurbishments are to a very high standard. Loved the yard, it was like stepping back in time with the narrow, cobbled path to the property. We had a fantastic long weekend in Whitby the place was lovely and clean and it was a nice touch to leave milk and some snacks for our arrival. It was difficult to find the place initially despite good directions. And the location was amazing

Very pleasant stay, highly recommended. Positive: Very nice apartment finished to a very good standard. Ideal position and comfortable. Negative: Problem with parking in zone W no spaces available, Goth Weekend. We had to park near the Royal Hotel. With the parking card from the property displayed in the windscreen but we returned to find we had a parking fine.

Beautifully presented accommodation, right at the doorstep of the promenade and v the beach. It had everything that you need for your stay and more.. Local pubs and restaurants were amazing. We will definitely come back next year.

The cottage is equipped with everything you will possibly need & more .. The decor is lovely.. We will stay again when we’re next in Whitby .

Wow! What a find! We absolutely loved staying here for a long weekend! The attention to detail of this property was second to none. Immaculate, spotless and beautifully presented. Perfect location amongst the bars, eateries and main strip, yet tucked away in a gorgeous little alley. The little extras were just perfect. So much thought has gone into making this the perfect holiday home. We will, without a doubt, be back!! X

Enjoyed our stay, a great location for Whitby town. The property was as describe & well stocked with anything you could need. Bed large & comfy. Would definitely stay there again if we returned to the area.

Waschmaschine top.Lage in der Seitenstraße direkt im Ort. Insgesamt ruhige Ecke. Negative: Etwas muffig, da ein altes Gebäude. Muss man halt öfter mal lüften. Parkplatz knapp- aber absolut machbar. Parktickets Zone W im Appartment.

Great accomodation

Superb location, was worried it may have been too noisy but it absolutely wasn’t. The cottage is lovely, well appointed and comfortable. The property was spotless throughout. The bathroom was clean & tidy and the shower was brilliant, much needed after the long walks. The little touches and attention to detail was really lovely, will 100% stay again.

Perfect central location spot to discover Whitby and beyond. We did a Monday-Friday 4 nighter and couldn’t have gone any better. Property was easy to find, less than a 5 minute walk from the train station and was done out to a very high standard. Welcome basket was ideal and the fans were a Godsend with the heat we had. Would highly recommend and will definitely use again on our next trip to Whitby.

Excellent property, couldn’t fault it and would definitely stay here again Positive: The property was centrally located and within a short walking distance of all Whitby’s amenities It was spacious and was very comfortable Negative: Obviously there isn’t any parking due to its location. However when I enquired I was told that they no longer provided scratch off parking permits so we pre paid for 3 days parking to save having to do it every day. Only to find when we got to the property there were 3 days scratch cards to use. I wouldn’t have minded if I hadn’t enquired previously and been told they didn’t provide them. Some how this information hasn’t been updated

Lovely accommodation in a brilliant, central location. The cottage was spotless, with everything you could possibly need. Beautiful bathroom, and very comfortable king size bed. When we next visit Whitby, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

We stayed for three nights and the cottage was perfect for us. Modern, clean and very comfortable. A two minute walk to the harbour, restaurants and bars. A parking permit was provided which was an added bonus. Would definitely stay there again.

Positive: Nice property ,God location,very clean Negative: Stairs to the bedrooms/bathroom/toilet are very steep ,handrail falls short of the top three steps ,could do with handrail on the top wall ,we actually cut our stay short by three nights for this reason

Positive: Beautiful, clean, comfortable, modern cottage in the centre of Whitby, great location with everything you need for a perfect home away from home. The bath is wonderful and I enjoyed watching tv whilst enjoying a soak at the end of each day. We have loved every minute and everything went very smoothly from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. Parking in Cliff Street pay and display car park next to Poundland for an hour was easy for unloading and loading. The scratch card parking permits for free street parking which were provided once we got into the cottage were easy to use once we worked out where the "W" zones were (Khyber Pass was closest for us). We will definitely be back for another stay in this gorgeous home. Thank you. Negative: I wouldn't change a thing.

Been coming to Whitby for 30 years. Best accommodation we’ve had here. Central, very clean, very well equipped, super comfortable bed. Sky sports and movies. Just brilliant

This beautiful cottage is an excellent find, fabulous midweek stay. Positive: The location and facilities were perfect, the parking, unloading and loading wasn’t a problem. Good recommendations for restaurants. Negative: Whilst the bathroom looked amazing, the hot water was only tepid, the shower didn’t work to its full function. Stairs not the best if you have mobility issues. Log burner needs instructions.

Exceptional accommodation with many extras in a fantastic location. Positive: Immaculate accommodation with many extras. Exceptionally clean with easy to follow instructions on checking in. The location is great right in the heart of Whitby with free parking a short walk away but you can unload outside the property and check in first. 10/10 Negative: Toaster didn’t work but a very minor issue as I could put the bread under the grill to toast.

It’s so nice and if it were on the market to buy I would be writing my check for it. Negative: The washer / dryer took a long time to dry. But in all fairness that is my first time to use one like that, so it could be the user.

Tucked away up an alley- loading bay close to unload. First impressions fabulous- clean, cosy, modern and high standard finish to everything. Had every possible kitchen appliance, and some cleaning products, dishwasher , WM tabs a nice touch. Slept really well- very quiet although a pub was close by. Negatives- Perfect for 2/3 probably but cosy for 4 adults : only 3 barstools ( dining ) A fab place: central location, oh and a Tv in the bathroom!!! Son loved that!!
