Helen Haus: Golf Sim & Hot Tub Theater Retreat — Guest Reviews

We selected Helen Haus primarily for its advertised premium amenities, particularly the golf simulator, hot tub theater, and entertainment spaces. Unfortunately, several of these key features were not functioning during our three-night family stay. We also encountered a broken living room couch and a bathroom jetted tub with a nonfunctioning hot-water faucet. These were significant disappointments given the property’s price and the reasons we chose it. Equally frustrating was the time spent repeatedly contacting management, following up on promised repairs, and seeking updates. Despite assurances, the issues remained unresolved during our stay. To their credit, management ultimately acknowledged our concerns and agreed to meaningful compensation. While we made the most of our vacation, the experience fell well short of expectations. Had we known about these issues beforehand, we would have booked elsewhere. Future guests should confirm the amenities are operational before booking.

Wonderful home for two families with children to spread out. Kids loved to play in this house with arcade games and a hot tub. Tip: heat the hot tub during the day- it takes a while to get hot. King Mattress was so comfortable! Loved all the outdoor space for adults to relax especially by the gas fire pit. Steep driveway if you’re bringing a car! It’s a perfect home if you want a nice reprieve from busy Helen but don’t mind driving down the beautiful windy roads to get into town (less than 10 minute drive or so, but only a few miles down). We also hired a car service once and they were great (Alpine Transportation, I think). We will love to be back to this fun home!

The location is excellent, and the peaceful view was one of our favorite parts of the stay. Unfortunately, the cabin’s cleanliness and maintenance did not match its luxury description. We found spiders on the porch, insects in the downstairs room, dirty dishes and cookware, and hair in the hot tub. We also spent about an hour cleaning the grill and had to purchase additional cookware. There were several safety concerns as well. The bunk bed was unstable, so we moved the mattresses to the floor for our children. A mirrored closet door fell when opened, and the oven door would not close properly. We requested relocation or a refund for the remaining nights, but no alternative was available. We appreciate receiving a 40% refund through the host and Airbnb. Overall, the property has a beautiful setting but needs more thorough cleaning, prompt repairs, and closer attention to safety.

Houston’s place was perfect for our stay in Helen. Had everything we needed, beds were very comfortable and smooth entrance at front gate. Also, tubing and restaurants were only a few minutes away so that was a plus. We would definitely book again when visiting Helen.

I spent a weekend with my family here and absolutely loved it. We all were blown away by how comfortable and clean it was, there was also so much to do (for all ages) in the house. In regards to the host, they were incredibly fast with their responses and I really appreciated that. I couldn't have asked for a better stay so I'm very thankful and would recommend this to anyone staying with a big group.

Wonderful home for a family vacation! So many fun things to do for all ages. The home is beautiful and so is the view. We loved every special detail the owners have poured into this home. Highly recommend.

We loved staying here! They were on top of communication, felt welcoming and flexible for our situation and most of all the beds were so comfortable after a full day of being out and about! There was also so much to do at the house! We didn’t get a chance to take full advantage of it but I think if we visit Helen again, we would 100% stay here again!

Stayed here 4 nights. The place was lovely and fit our families easily. We were able to get to Helen on a fun mountain road and enjoyed the town. There were a few items in the home we were unable to use due to damage from a previous guest, which the host wouldn’t have noticed unless they stayed there themselves. The home was clean, peaceful and my brother even enjoyed a round of golf. We created great memories here :)

We had a group of 13- 6 adults 8 kids as we were in town for a baseball tournament. The house had plenty to offer to keep the kids busy during downtime if we weren’t floating the river or downtown Helen. From the golf simulator to pool and ping pong table, they had lots to do. Adults all fit comfortably. The only thing we wished was that there was an additional full bath upstairs as there were 6 of us sharing that one full bath. But we made it work. Houston was a wonderful host and responded nearly immediately when I had a few questions trying to figure a few things out. The driveway is definitely steep and we had 4 large cars but we figured it out and were able to park everyone. Driving up the mountain to the home does take about 7 min. from house to town but it’s a pretty drive and half of our group even saw a bear! Like 5 feet from the car - that close. The home was clean, kitchen well equipped (we cooked full bkfst one morning- a skillet could be useful for pancakes) great stay!!

We had a great time here. Houston was a great host and very quick to respond to our messages. The house was perfect for a large group, very clean, and had everything we needed. The scenery was beautiful.

We had the BEST time! Beds were ultra cozy, and the host was responsive, kind, and clear. Three families of four met at Houston’s house for a fun-filled mountain weekend. The home delivered: a great space with plenty of activities for kids, plus scenic porches and cozy seating for adults to relax and unwind. The views were spectacular. Quiet and private community. We will be back!

There were a few issues but I will try to remain unbiased. location is excellent, gated community right behind Helen. The house.. It has a steep driveway up but fairly flat on the lot the house itself definitely needs a lot of Maintenance inside and out. The Landscaping is non-existent and there are weeds all around the house, porches and hot tubs which causes excessive bugs and bug bites and lizards (we're used to wild life) Inside...it has 3 floors with rooms on every floor and our party of 12 had all spaces occupied. There is plenty to do inside like the golf sim, arcade and games that the party appreciated. There is deferred maintenance like moldy shower doors and poor worksmanship on repairs which makes the prop less appealing, fixable though. We had issues with fans not working, broken tv, hot tub instructions not communicated but the host agreed to a resolution at the end. Not worth what we paid with 2 similar, newer props we almost went with but you might get lucky.

We chose to stay here for our yearly family vacation which included our adult children and grandchildren as well as my parents and my son-in-laws parents. This house is in a beautiful neighborhood which is close to town where there are lots of things to do. Houston was always responsive and friendly when I had a question. We all enjoyed our stay at Helen Haus.

The house was very nice and the neighborhood was quiet and peaceful, while still being just a short drive from restaurants and things to do. The host was very friendly and incredibly nice. Would absolutely recommend this home, especially for families with kids!

Beautiful home with Beautiful views. Just as pictured. My family loved staying here. Lots to do just at the house if you are looking for a quite getaway. We thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub and pool table. Very clean and very spacious for large groups. Short drive to town and not to far from many waterfalls. We'd absolutely book with Houston again.

Our stay at Helen Haus was great! Waking up to the mountains and enjoying our coffee on the balcony made our stay! The space was incredibly roomy, thoughtfully laid out, and perfect for relaxing or spending time together with lots of activities for kids and teens. One of the highlights was how comfortable everything felt. The furniture was plush and inviting, making it easy to unwind after a day of exploring. The new bedding was super clean, and cozy, which made for peaceful sleep. If you’re looking for a peaceful getaway with beautiful scenery and all the comforts of home (and then some), this is the perfect spot. We would absolutely stay here again!

We appreciated Houston hosting us and had an overall good stay. For future guests, it may be helpful to note a few minor cleanliness issues we noticed upon arrival. There were some cobwebs and dead bugs near the main floor windows/bench area, a few dishes in the cupboard were still a bit dirty and wet, and the floors didn't appear to have been fully swept. These were relatively small items and didn't significantly impact our stay. One item to be aware of: after using the hot tub, the water turned green the following day and some members of my family experienced skin irritation. It may be worth confirming that it has been recently serviced and properly treated before use. To be fair, we did not reach out to the host during our stay to address these concerns (the hot tub issue was our last day anyway), and Houston, I'm sure, would have been responsive if we had. Overall, we are grateful for the stay and the opportunity to visit.

Great house to stay in if you are going into downtown Helen and have a family of 8-12. Place was clean, well maintained. We would certainly stay there again when we visit Helen.

My friends and I had an excellent boys weekend in Helen at this property! It is a large house in great condition, with plenty of space for everyone to sleep (10 people), has lots of games and amenities to enjoy, and is only about 10 minutes from the downtown Helen area. Plus there are some great hikes and waterfalls within a 20 minute drive. Overall I would highly recommend this property, and Houston was also a responsive and kind host who took great care of my group. If you are staying in Helen, GA with a large group, this is the place to stay!!

The house was beautiful and we really enjoyed our stay. Everything was comfortable, well-maintained, and just as described. The space made it easy to relax and we had a great overall experience. The only small suggestion would be to have paper towels (Bounty/napkins) readily available, as we couldn’t find any when we needed them. It would also be helpful to have a few more basic toiletries provided for guests. Aside from that, everything was great and we truly enjoyed our time there. Thank you for hosting us!

Great weekend trip! House was perfect!

House was great! Lot of games for kids. Nice area. We had issues with the fireplaces, we couldn’t use them because they didn’t work, Houston sent somebody to check it out but we couldn’t use it. House was clean, spacious, nice area, no need to go anywhere. We had a great family time there

Great place! Once everything is up and running correctly this will be an unbelievable place. Great views, very responsive and respectful host, and lots to do! From an amazing hot tub hang out, to a cozy fireplace.. From an unforgettable kids hang out, to the adults den. This house is beautiful! We didn’t have to leave the place at all to have fun! Definitely worth it.
