Our families have been vacationing annually and consistently finding new area to explore. Coming from NYc and Massachusetts this was a nice middle ground for us. Collectively we were four adults and five kids that all fit comfortably in the cabin an having access to the barn and outdoor space made our stay special. We felt comfortable letting our kids explore the area on their own and were able to relax while they played outside. The host was responsive throughout or stay and helpful in guiding us through the local area. We will definitely looking to return and would recommend to any other travelers.

Our family had a great stay. More than enough space for 6 adults and 4 kids. Beautiful yard and plenty of amenities.

Amazing property for our family trip! Stunning surroundings, hiking trails right out the front door, a pond loaded with fish, and a playground on the property for kids. I cannot say enough about this rental. The owner was staying at the main house during our stay and stopped by to ask if we needed anything which was great. It was perfect for us. Comfortable and clean we will definitely be staying again.

We had a really nice stay at the guest house. The property is gorgeous, pictures don’t do it justice. Check in was easy, owners were very communicative, house was very clean and spacious for our 3 families. Pond is stocked with bass and it’s great for fishing. Would absolutely return.

Gorgeous views and home Celebrating a family birthday for a long weekend this was the perfect place. We used the wood burning fireplace nonstop. We cooked in the gourmet kitchen on the Viking stove, played pool and darts in the barn and hiked around. Property manager responded to questions immediately. We hope to return again soon!

Cousins Christmas This was the perfect place for cousins from Long Island and Massachusetts to spend winter break. 4 adults and 5 kids ranging from 8-17 all had a great time. The living room was spacious enough for all of us to hang out. Any questions we had were answered via text message quickly. We enjoyed the games in the barn and the hiking trails. Highly recommend!

Family Weekend Getaway Lisa and Lee are wonderful and responsive hosts! Home is clean and beautiful, grounds are amazing, hiking trail loop by front door Lee described was enjoyed by all. Fun place to stay, everyone had a fantastic time. Rhinebeck downtown shops and restaurants are not far. Lee & Lisa, thank you for sharing your home. We'll definitely be back.

Amazing property We had a wonderful 3 night stay at this property. It is absolutely gorgeous -- my only complaint is that it was so amazing I didn't want to leave. My husband and sons had a great time fishing in the pond. There is lots to do in the area -- we enjoyed time at the state park nearby. Lisa, the property manager is a pleasure to deal with -- super responsive and nice.

Beautiful home and property! This guest house on a ~90 acre property was wonderful for a family getaway. Comfortable beds, a serene pond with rowboat and ample room for the kids to roam. We’d go back in a heartbeat!

Great stay and property! Great location on a beautiful property. We were skiing at Catamout which was an easy 20 minute drive. Our kids enjoyed exploring the property and the house was well equipped and had all we needed. Lisa was terrific and we certainly recommend.

Great place with awesome property The house was perfect for 2 families. Nice open concept. Stunning views. Kitchen is a hodgepodge of dinnerware and not an ample amount for large group but we managed to make it work. It got very icy overnight and there was no ice melt or shovel on hand so it made it difficult to get out of the steep driveway but the property manager was responsive and had someone come in a few hours. Not far from Catamount.

Great location, sparse amenities We had a lovely time at this cabin located on a beautiful piece of property. Unfortunately the kitchen which was reported to have a range of appliances has barely anything you'd need to cook with (no bowls, blender, platters, or anything aside from the most basic plates/cups/etc...could not make a salad for a group of 4). The pond was also snowed over with no markings for where it began, and as such our children were walking on it until we noticed that they were putting themselves in danger. The entire home also had a strong smell of mold upon arrival. Overall it is a beautiful property that is clearly not used by the owners and as such is poorly kept.

Ski Weekend Perfect place for our family's ski weekend. Lovely place for our pup and me to spend time while the others hit the slopes. Efrain was immediately responsive to the few questions we had. Highly recommend this VRBO!

A lovely stay All was very nice, clean & scenic! We were surprised at the lack of hand soaps in the bathrooms & kitchen. I don’t recall seeing anything In description of supplying our own. We also had an issue with the grill, changed to new tank & had issue keeping lit. A bit of a disappointment as it was very much needed at dinner time. Talked with E. Ramos and could not do much for us. Fortunately after letting it set & trying again we got it to work. Only other issue was description saying kitchen was fully stocked and space for 12 for dining. We had trouble finding enough serving and preparation bowls. All in all however a wonderful (too) short of a family stay we all admitted! Wanted to stay longer:) Thank you Luann & family

Quiet space on a great property My family and I spent the weekend here during Covid times to get away from the city. We had an infant and 2 dogs here. Amazing kitchen with top of the line appliances (we cooked every meal here) the pond had a boat available for use. Pond is a bit of a walk down the hill, (might be a bit hard for the elderly) so you can either drive down the driveway to get there or walk it. Communication was great. Everyone from age 6 mo to 70 years enjoyed themselves.

Beautiful family place Beautiful house on the estate with a lot of fun stuff to do. We got the upgrade after small issues with the guesthouse we originally rent. On the estate we went for a walk, and played in the snow. The location is very nice as it is close by small Cousy villages and cities. We had a grate time with kids there. House is big and spacious. Nice kitchen where we made Christmas dinner and amazing fireplace, which we fired almost each evening.

Lovely spot This was a lovely house for a weekend visit with family. Check in and out was very simple. The house was a great space to hang out it and the kids loved the outdoor space and pond. The only downside was the numerous mosquitos at dawn and dusk. Would visit again!

Ancram Property ID 377377 July 2019 We rented the house in Ancram early in July for a family get together for 8 adults and one dog. The house and grounds were beautiful and very comfortable. Nancy, the rental consultant immediately answered any questions we had before we arrived and Don, the local caretaker was accommodating and wonderful. We had one small issue with hot water one evening, but it was fixed first thing the next morning. The only reason I can’t give this place 5 stars is the lack of wifi. We also had difficulty getting cell phone access at the house. In this day, internet access is almost a necessity to look up local ticket prices, opening times for local attractions, dinner reservations etc. A very nice property and if they get the wifi fixed, I would highly recommend this property.

Lovely rental on a beautiful estate This lovely home was perfect for my family with four bedrooms and three baths we all had plenty of space to spread out. Unfortunately the wi-fi did not work which was problematic but since we didn't spend a lot of time in the rental home we did not report the problem so it remained inoperable. One small t.v. for the entire property seemed a bit sparse but since there were so many things to do outside the home we managed okay. Many of the basic necessities (paper goods) were provided but it would have been nice to have bath soap provided for each bathroom as we've found to be customary in other rentals we've enjoyed. Rooms were spacious, all with beautiful views of the surrounding property. There were no window coverings in the house but I am guessing that was a conscious decision so the occupants could enjoy the views. All-in-all this was a good rental for the short period of time we stayed in the home.

Our family had a great time. The home and general area was beautiful. We highly recommend this home. Everything was great!

Where's The Sixth Star? My wife, son, and I met several other couples here this past summer and fell in love with the place. Peaceful. Majestic. Serene. And pimped out with every amenity you could imagine. Endless things for both kids and adults to do. Or do nothing...which is just as rewarding. We return to our busy lives in the Boston area and dream of returning to "Doodle" one day...

Fun Getaway House A perfect house for a large group of friends to hang out . Kitchen is fantastic (top of the line stove/fridge) and a great fireplace set up. Property is great to walk around too!

Great weekend get-away This was a nice spacious home for the 6 of us. The weather was nice and we could walk along the property. Great kitchen for cooking. Efraim got back to me instantly when I had a question. Everything went smoothly. The kitchen was better equipped than some former guests found it, and there was tons of soap and toilet paper! Great shower pressure, too.

Definitely will come back My friends and family really enjoyed this great cabin. Everything was very clean. Kitchen was big enough for 10 people. I will definitely revisit this awesome cabin!

Great weekend away! A group of 8 friends went up to get out of the city for the weekend and had a great time. I’m so glad we found this house to stay in! We went on 2 hikes and enjoyed the fresh air. Perfect little fall getaway.

Beautiful property. Our group of 8 had a nice time on the property. The internet was very poor and freezer didn’t work. But otherwise it wasn’t bad. There is however no curtains on any window.

Love it! The house is cozy! We calebrated New Year Eve and it was pleasure to stay in warm and cozy place with a fireplace. The house is big enough for 8-10 and everything organized well. My friends and I enjoyed the time spent there.I will recommend this place to my friends!

My dream home...found! I cannot say enough good things about this little slice of heaven just miles outside of New York City. We went there for a long weekend with three other couples and had the most magical "fall" weekend I could have ever imagined....I should start by saying I've been seeking a 'Vermont-esque' place to go during the Fall time for years close to New York City but have yet to find somewhere that does the trick...until now. Not only is the house beautifully decorated (think mahogany, plaid, fireplaces, large chandeliers, handsome pieces of antique furniture) but it is large enough that each couple felt like they were on their own mini-vacation! We were able to gather in one of the many common areas but also spend time in our own areas without feeling that anyone else was even on the same property. We spent the weekend antiquing in Hudson, cooking HUGE meals in the gourmet kitchen (and I found the kitchen to be perfectly stocked with appliances, utensils, etc), walking the grounds, sitting by one of the many fireplaces, and enjoying cards or boardgames from the game room. It was a perfect escape...I was frankly thrilled to not have WiFi access and would have been disappointed to spend the weekend connected when I was surrounded by such beautiful nature! We are planning to come back this winter for a more romantic getaway but I also think this would be a perfect place to come during the summer season...tennis courts, a pool, pond... a great place all around! I would highly recommend this house to anyone seeking an escape from the chaos of the city and wanting to disconnect, relax, and enjoy nature. Our weekend was certainly full of laughter, love and memories.

If I could move anywhere in the world... I cannot say enough about my stays at this home. It is my favorite place to get away from it all, spacious both inside and out to relax, take a deep breath and enjoy the sweeping scenery. If you can drag yourself away from all of the wonderful relaxing things to do there (hot tub/pool, entertainment barn, row on the pond, hike etc), the lovely town of Rhinebeck (just a short drive away) is a perfect location for boutique shopping and fine dining. The photographs provided are all accurate and the home is impeccably maintained. I've been both in the summer and in the winter, and didn't want for anything during either stay. Christina, the owner, is a gem and was very helpful with any questions we had. This is an ideal location for mid-size parties, groups of friends, family reunions/getaways. It's just a quick train ride away from Manhattan, and well worth the short trip. Couldn't recommend it more highly. Can't wait to return!

This is a wonderful location! A great place to connect with nature and relax. There was plenty of room for our group of 9 plus our small dog. The cabin wad spotless, the games at the barn were great and the pond was great for fishing. I'm looking forward to returning to this great spot.

Family Togetherness Great! The location allowed short trips to activities. The grounds are gorgeous with a hike right out the front door. Used the pond for catch and release fishing as well as rowing. Played pool and darts. Spent a lot of time eating and playing games and the kitchen and great room were perfect for both. Comfortable for our group of 10 and 1 dog. The owners were very helpful, responsive and attentive. We plan on returning!

Clean and spacious cabin The freshly painted cabin was clean and spacious. There were just the right amount of amenities without being cluttered. We had everything we needed to cook dinner in the kitchen, hang out on the patio, roast marshmallows over the fire and play some games in the entertainment barn. The bedding was comfortable and there were plenty of towels and supplies. We definitely recommend this location to a group such as ours (9 people).

Lovely well-equipped Country Home We rented the guest house of this country estate for a long weekend. The home was very clean and well-maintained. It fit our party of 10 comfortably (with 2 kids on blow up mattresses). The kitchen was spacious and well-equipped, with the exception of a few missing items that would be useful (ice trays, wine glasses, measuring cups). Also, the refrigerator did not seem to be maintaining a cold temperature. We alerted the caretaker of this. It should be noted that this home is not handicapped friendly, as the main door opens to the upper bedroom level, not the main level. Grounds are beautiful & the setting is very tranquil. We did not find the paddle boat or kayak, but used the fishing poles. All in all, a solid rental and would visit again.

Escape with no Hassel Beyond the fantastic amenities that this home has to offer (I will get to that in a few), I would say that one of the BEST features is its proximity to NYC. Within a two hour drive, this destination offers an unbelievable escape from the city without having to beach traffic. The home itself provides all of the comforts of home, plus some. With multiple bedrooms, it can house your whole family (or all of your friends) and offers each member of the family multiple activities ON the premises to keep occupied. Outdoors, there is a pool, spa, basketball court and bocce ball court. Indoors, there is a fantastic gourmet kitchen, game room and multiple comfortable seating areas. It is a perfect spot for groups looking to spend time together, but have enough space and activities to keep everyone busy. I would highly recommend a stay here.

Our pre-Thanksgiving getaway! We were extremely impressed with the maintenance of this property. From the moment we entered the driveway and viewed the vast landscape, up to when we opened the doors and entered the rental. Instructions were extremely simple, the staff is attentive and responded to all concerns immediately. The owners must be congratulated for having such a wonderful property for other families to enjoy. This is property builds memories, we drove away planning our return trip.

Special Place in Hudson Valley This is a very nice property that comes "as advertised". It's quiet, set away from a small country road and has a beautiful view looking out from the A-frame windowed front of the main room. The owners and property manager as well as the property point person who responded right away to several small "fixes" were all a pleasure to deal with. My wife and I spent roughly 50% of our 3 week rental period on our own and the rest was balanced with two separate visits by children/grandchildren. The property accommodated all of our needs.

Fabulous getaway! My husband and I enjoyed a beautiful weekend at this lovely home. Complete privacy and the grounds are breathtaking. The photos for this listing don't do the property justice. It's a fabulous place, has a great kitchen and comfy bedrooms. I especially fell in love with the fireplace and lighting fixtures. Can't wait to go back again!!

Country Getaway This property is a great value compared to Cape Cod or Rhode Island! Plenty of space to spread out inside and out. Family dinners so easy to shop for, prepare and enjoy at the large dining room table. Spectacular views from the house's many windows. So many options for activities depending on what each person likes to do! Our group's activities included hiking, mini golf, waterfalls, swimming at the local state park, window shopping and lunch on Warren Street in Hudson, wine tasting in Rhinebeck at the Milea Estate vineyard and a visit to the the Martin Van Buren homestead in Kinderhook. We'd love visit this property again :)

Wonderful Stay The property and home are excellent. All was equal or better than anticipated. The ice-maker was not working; the selection of glassware and bowls are limited and the furniture and linens are substandard for a home and property of this quality. Didn't affect our stay, just wanted to provide constructive input. We would return to this property. It's a great value. Efraim, the property manager was very accommodating.

Wonderful Get Away We had a great time at this property. More than enough seasoned firewood provided allowing us to have a fire in the fireplace everyday. Extra propane tank provided with the outdoor grill, which as it turned out we needed. The cookware in the house is quite nice and plenty of serving plates. A hodge podge of cooking/preparation utensils, but that did not affect us much because we brought what we needed for the recipes that we preplanned to make. We brought pets and the house was very pet friendly and wonderful walking around the property. Would definaetly come again.

We were disappointed. Pros: The property is exquisite. The view from the home and from the front terrace is so beautiful and relaxing and serene. Our dog was in complete heaven, able to romp and chase to her heart's delight. The bedrooms and bathrooms and living room were immaculate and comfortable. The caretaker was there every day and was helpful in every way he could be. Cons: The lack of wifi was a shock and negative for all of us. The property advertises broadband access, which we understood to mean that there was wifi. The lack of it in a property that is advertised as luxury, is a serious flaw and we would not have rented it if we knew this to be the case. There were no fold out beds. So the house accommodates 8 people, not 12, as advertised. The ad claims that the kitchen is a fully equipped, gourmet kitchen. While the major appliances in the kitchen are high level, the rest of the kitchen offerings were not. The microwave was weak, at best. Some basic utensils - like a strainer and a grater and a peeler - were missing from what was advertised as a gourmet kitchen. When we read the reviews for this property, they talked about the tennis and basketball and pool. We expected this and it had a lot to do with choosing this property. We were very disappointed to learn that it's only available for the "main house". The ad says that there is a swimming dock, which led us to believe that we could swim in the pond. None of us considered this to be a swimmable pond and we all love to swim in lakes and other non-chlorinated bodies of water.

The house was beautiful and area was nice and peaceful. Loved kayaking in pond. Only wish is that the pond was swimmable. Looks like It may have been at one time. Overall great place, very clean. They had plenty of firewood which was awesome. Host very responsive to any questions or issues. Highly recommend if you are looking for peace and quiet. Hillrock distillery was only minutes away and very informative tour and tasting of bourbons and whiskey.

Lots of room! 4 large bedrooms and three full baths easily accommodated our 7 people. Privacy, but great indoor and outdoor communal areas for gathering. High end appliances for this guest who loves to cook and who had planned family meals. WiFi worked great and kept us well connected. Extra towels and linens...which we needed.

Anniversary weekend My husband, 4year old son and myself had such amazing and blessed weekend. This place was stunning and truly amazing. The hospitality and upkeep was A plus. Lee and Lisa were just outstanding, amazing and so wonderful. We as a family have been all over at different locations, but this place is definitely the best. We will definitely return again and highly recommend this place. Thank you for an amazing experience.

Beautiful spot for a multi-generational group The property has acres of beautiful land with some hiking/walking trails. The house has four spacious bedrooms which accommodated our group which included grandparents, parents, and young children. The kitchen has nice counter space and appliances but could use more or updated cooking and serving utensils. There were plenty of towels but could use some new ones. We were there in the snowless winter but still enjoyed the outdoors. Some of the group skied at Catamount which is nearby. I wouldn’t recommend the house for children under two because of the open staircase. It was fine for our almost-three-year-old.

We love this place A great location and option for people looking to go skiing either at Catamount or at Butternut in Great Barrington. This is the guest house on a 90 acres landing with a barn. We really enjoyed our stay. We were 6 people. I am not sure about sleeping 10. I would say you can only really sleep 8 b/c there are only 4 bedroom. BTW the internet is amazing. They have fiber optic and I was able to get 400MBPS. My kids were able to do online school and I was able to work on Zoom meetings all day long

Fabulous Girls Getaway!!! We were looking for the perfect weekend away from the city…. And we found it!!!! We had a great time and look forward to going back next year. We stayed for a long weekend, and our routine was as follows: Hit the hiking trails in the AM or went for a bike ride to the lake. Antiquing and shopping in Hudson in the afternoon and then wine by the fire in the evening. It was perfect! We also ended up going to the Stissing House one night for dinner. Expensive, but well worth it!

Unbelievably Relaxing Getaway Privacy, seclusion, beautiful accomodations, fresh mountain air ... this country retreat has it all. I live a stressful life in New York City, and retreats to this property on Doodletown Road provided precisely the kind of soul-soothing relaxation I was looking for -- just a short drive from NYC or Boston. I enjoyed hiking the trails, kayaking around the pond and shooting late-night billiards with some fellow friends. The owner and caretaker were totally hands-off, allowing our party to settle in, relax and feel like we were at home ... and not on some sterile, hotel room vacation. If I can't make it back up to see the autumn leaves changing, I'm hoping to convince my girlfriend and our friends to head back up for some winter snowshoeing around this fantastic property. I highly recommend you kick back and enjoy everything this exquisite home and surrounding region have to offer.

This was a lovely cabin that made for a wonderful, peaceful trip out of the city. The hosts were incredibly communicative and responsive and the home was clean and comfortable. There was lots of fun stuff to do in the surrounding area as well.

The property is beautiful and quiet, just what we were looking for. The home is very comfortable, with a very well equipped kitchen. There are shops nearby as well as a state park with a lake and trail. It was a lovely stay and I definitely would come back!

Wonderful stay! Our stay in Ancram was wonderful! The house and land it sits on are beautiful, super comfortable beds, great layout of the house, extremely responsive hosts… We can’t wait to go back!

Beautiful location - suggest a few upgrades The bedroom windows have no curtains or blinds. I suspect most people are like me and need the room to be dark to sleep. Also recommend a Keurig machine.

Wonderful break The property is lovely and pics really don’t do it justice. The property manager Efraim and the owners were very responsive, we look forward to returning to see what exciting upgrades they have coming!

Rhinebeck weekend The house itself was great. Beautiful views, enough room for us to spread out. However, the TV situation wasn’t conducive to watching any baseball/football games on network television. You need an app on the phone? Confusing for this senior. There were no instructions for the TV either. The bed linens and towels were worn out and in need of replacement, no potholders in the kitchen, and the glassware was lacking. These are easy fixes, just a small investment by owner. Otherwise, we had a wonderful time! Would go back again !

Great house, exquisite setting The house is great, the activities for all ages wonderful with walks, rowing, pool and amenities. The setting is picturesque especially with the Fall colors. The house was perfectly clean, but we could not find adequate sheets or the shampoo, conditioner and coffee mentioned in the website. We could, of course, easily have brought those perishables had we not been told to expect them.

Lovely Retreat The grounds of this property are idyllic. Spotless home with a beautiful view and close to many Hudson Valley historic sites. Definitely would return.

Great getaway Clean, spacious house on an amazing property.

Hudson Valley Gem We stayed in the Guest house. We he'd prompt communication with Efraim, although we did not need anything. Wonderful property. Patio overlooked the pond and scenery. We had zero internet issues, streamed movies and TV shows with good speed. The direct TV worked fine. Close to Hudson and Rhinebeck with the shopping and restaurants just reopened, about 35 minutes to Great Barrington.

Can't Say Enough Pictures or even scrapbooks cannot do the place justice. It is a beautiful, expansive property that is perfect for any occasion. Forget about seeing any neighbors, you can't even see the road. Just an amazing place.
