The stay was as described! It was a cute place to spend a few nights away from the city. The spa was easy to use. There were a few easy hiking trails nearby and a few restaurants too. Would recommend for a couple or two, noting that there is one bedroom in the basement and one in the loft (and neither are closed by door) which worked well for us and our 1-year old.
This place is one of the most amazing locations I've had the pleasure of staying at. Everything about it was great, especially the peace, quiet, and privacy, which were all perfectly on point.
The host was responsive; there were some misunderstandings, but they found an excellent way to resolve them.
Pros -Clear, helpful communication and smooth check-in. -Quiet location with a beautiful forest setting. -The downstairs bed was very comfortable. -Plenty of firewood was provided. Cons -The interior lacks authenticity and attention to detail. Despite a clear design reference, many elements feel superficial or low-quality (e.g., tissue box covers without tissues). -Maintenance needs improvement. Several items felt loose or unstable, including tables, chairs, screws, and the drink cart. Dishes and plates felt cheap. -Cleanliness could be better. There were spider webs, stained dishes, and dirty marshmallow s’mores sticks left on the ground around the fireplace in the living room, which felt inconsistent with strict checkout cleaning instructions. -The space is smaller than it appears in photos; the couch fits two, not 3–4. I’m 5’5” and could barely lie down. -The staircase to the loft felt unsafe, with a handrail on only one side.
This is a lovely spot--the windows and fireplace are especially charming. That said, be aware that the sauna is pretty difficult to operate (wood burning, not something you can turn on with a switch, which makes it especially fussy in winter and for short stays). The kitchen is not well stocked: the pans are scratched, and they need a collander, grater, more plates, and some basic condiments like olive oil, salt, and pepper. There's a record player but no records, so we were not able to use one of the amenities we were most excited about. It's a pretty area, but the hike the guidebook says is five minutes away is 20 minutes and in winter on icy roads it's difficult to access. The fact that this is a rental company rather than someone renting out their own country house really shows. For an Airbnb at this price point, I expect more thoughtfulness. Again, a pretty place! Just wanted to provide some detail for those considering a stay in the near future.

Incredible oasis. Absolutely beautiful property, super quiet and peaceful. Home had everything you’d need and more. Incredibly responsive and helpful hosts. Would stay over and over again!
Don’t recommend staying there in the summer, musty smell and dehumidifiers just don’t do it. Probably nice in the winter but can’t speak to that. Host was communicative
Excellent location, extremely peaceful, clean and cosy. Truly wonderful. If travelling in winter make sure to ask the owners to plough the drive and salt and sand it before you arrive otherwise it is not accessible without a truck as its extremely icy.

Amazing house in the nature! They even have an outside Sauna with real wood burning stove inside - we loved that during the cold winter evening :)

We had such a wonderful stay at the Darby Cabin! The house and property were both beautiful and well-maintained. Karli was so communicative, and made our stay so seamless. We will definitely be booking again next fall!
Very cool wooded setting!
We had a wonderful weekend. It was super cozy and enough space for up to four people. The outside area was also very nice, especially in the evening with the fairy lights. We really enjoyed the peace and quiet and felt very comfortable. It was just a pity that we didn't know that we had to bring the utensils to get the sauna on ourselves (e.g. kindlings), which we didn't expect given the price. However, there was a supermarket nearby where we could get everything we needed.
We loved our stay! The location is private, just off the river in the trees and the home is beautifully designed. The firepit and path to the back felt like we were in the middle of the woods. The beds are extra comfy and kitchen spacious for multiple adults to be in there cooking.
