New, clean, 3 bedrooms, damp, small furniture, quirks on wifi and toilet issues, no windows
Positive: We stayed 3 nights here on a weeklong road-trip from Chicago to Toronto to Montreal with a side-tour of Niagara Falls. This apartment was our base while in Toronto.
The 'newness' of this refurbished apartment was nice. And traveling with two teenagers, it fit our requirement of 3 bedrooms (my wife and I in one; daughter in another; and our son in the third.) It was also quieter than we expected given its location. Also, we not only enjoyed this urban, more 'local' neighborhood, and it was also a pretty convenient location to get to downtown Toronto from here. It never took us for example more than 15-ish minutes by Uber to get to the waterfront down near the CN Tower area.
Was nice to also have a washer/dryer in the apartment. We made use of it.
Locally, I shopped at an excellent boutique cheese and meat shop that also carries wines, beers and ciders. Super staff. My wife and I also enjoyed a few cocktails one evening also nearby at quick walk hip, dive-y bar down the street.
Negative: We arrived in mid-afternoon on a Monday. The wifi was out on arrival and stayed that way for the first 18-ish hours we were there. That was a big red flag. It would have been nice to have, for example, a DVD player set up on a shelf or something so that we could have at least used the television. To be fair, the owners did keep in contact with us about the situation, but really, that was a rough way to start our experience.
The water pressure in the toilet adjacent to the master bedroom was also terrible. We had to plunge it several times during our stay.
On top of that, there was a perpetual dampness to the entire apartment. While each room had an a/c unit to try and cool things down, it never really was able to dry the place out. It was a mostly sticky experience in that regard too.
At least the bed my wife and I shared (I believe it was a double), was very low to the ground (I'm 6'2" and she's 5'9"), so getting up was somewhat of challenge, but also it wasn't the most comfortable of mattresses. The bedding was nice and new.
Bear in mind, too, that there are no windows in this apartment except for a two doors that are locked and inaccessible for the tenants. Not having windows was a bit odd for us.
Finally, the main living room furniture was small (both the sofa and two chairs) and not very comfortable. It felt IKEA-esque.
And as I mentioned in the 'What I Liked' section, the neighborhood itself appealed to us because we wanted a more inner city, local neighborhood. But it's more up and coming and grittier than other inner city neighborhoods we've stayed in. That won't appeal to everyone.

We needed to do a quick trip to Toronto to help one of my sons with a move. I was looking for an East Toronto location ("old China town"), with self-check-in and air-conditioning, that was clean and comfortable for us just for one night.
This basement apartment in The Gerrard was completely renovated from top to bottom with quality finishings. Everything was fresh and spotlessly clean, the beds and pillows were high quality, and the kitchen was fully stocked. We particularly appreciated that the unit had two full bathrooms with showers.
On the street level, there are local grocery stores and restaurants, and 2 excellent spots to grab coffee close by. (Try Hailed coffee shop if you're looking to sit in. Food was delicious too.)

Honestly a really nice air bnb! Very clean and well stocked. Also, there is a parking lot right across the street! This was perfect for our family visiting the city.

I had an excellent stay at The Gerrard in Toronto. I reserved two rooms for myself and my guests, and we were all impressed with the experience from start to finish.
The rooms were brand new, exceptionally clean, and very comfortable. Everything felt fresh, modern, and well-maintained. The location was also very convenient, making it easy to get around and enjoy the city.
What stood out most was the excellent service. The team was responsive, helpful, and made sure we had everything we needed for a smooth and enjoyable stay.
I would highly recommend The Gerrard to anyone visiting Toronto and would gladly stay here again.

This is a new property and it is squeeky clean. I was initially concerned when I saw the exterior on Google Street view, but that's an old pic! The building has been completely renovated inside and out. Our suite had everything we needed, was nicely designed/furnished, and our host was extremely responsive and friendly. Our kids loved the two single beds so they didn't have to share...but they especially loved the TVs in every bedroom! The bath robes and snack basket were also a nice touch. I felt the price was very reasonable for a 3 bedroom suite in Toronto. Even though we were in the basement, there was lots of light. We would definitely stay here again.
