Week at the Beach, Last Week in October The view from the back second story deck is stunning. Sit back and relax as you watch the ocean shores.<br /> The beach house is neat and clean and the kitchen has nice space for cooking. All appliances worked perfectly.<br /> The internet signal was off and on between good and poor. This makes the TV reception spotty.<br /> Otherwise rating would be excellent.
Excellent Loved it. Loved how close it was to the water and set amongst the dunes. Non -beach types able to enjoy beach and ocean without leaving living room.<br /> Beds/rooms comfy, and all spaces neat, clean, outfitted well and maintained. Most of what we needed to prepare meals was there ~ with such a great location, there is no need to dine out. Two of our party were unable to come: their (unfortunate) financial input made it affordable, so without them, we’re not sure we can afford it ~ otherwise, we’d be all in for next year! I’m working on it!
Beautiful Home, Perfect Location We just returned from a vacation at Whale of a View with our family. What a beautiful oceanfront property with spectacular views! The home was comfortable for our family of 6, plus a dog. The layout was nice with the bedrooms on the lower level, so the early risers didn't disturb those sleeping. It should be noted that while the home is right on the beach, the beach access is 2 houses to the left of the driveway and not directly from the house. But there is a nice wooden path and mat which leads to the beach making that easily accessible. The only suggestions to upgrade our stay would have been more seating on the deck (one of the rocking chairs had a broken back), more steak knives (only 2 in kitchen), and the lock on the front door was cumbersome and took several tries by all of us to enter the house. Those were minor inconveniences compared to the long list of wonderful attributes this oceanfront home offers. We already booked for next year!
Very Good Very clean and nice house that our family enjoyed the week in. Resort Realty was quick in their responses to any issues that we found and were timely addressing them. The view of the beach/ocean was as good as it gets and the beach access was very convenient and private. Only a couple of things with the house kept this from being an excellent review. The fridge took over a day to get down to below 40 degrees (which was noted in the welcome email) which made keeping food cold inconvenient for a day. The beds were not very comfortable (very common in weekly rentals). There was a bit of a musty smell in the house but we just plugged in air fresheners for the week and it wasn't very noticeable after that. Overall, we had a very good experience with Whale of a View and will be back in the future!
Very Good We had a great time. Being a senior citizen I did find it difficult to navigate the beach access over the dunes. There was a chain matt that made it easy to go to the beach the first day. But the matt was removed from the steps to the beach. Also there was no railing from the lower level to the living area. It was difficult to navigate the steps without assistance. My family and I hope that we will be able to return and work with your agency. Thank you

Spectacular views of ocean The property description was spot on. We were mesmerized by the ocean and beach views. Obviously the owners are very responsive as I saw a comment about shaky coffee maker. Now there are three to choose from! All very nice and we will book again. Better supplied kitchen than we have had before. Thank you.
Spectacular Winter View Whale of a View offers one of the most incredible unobstructed views you can find on the beaches of Nags Head. The view out of the windows on the main level are postcard worthy. Accessing the beach was difficult as the beach access was blown over and filled in with sand. This is not a public access area, so it'll be up to someone else to fix it I guess. The deck was new. The blue rockers were wonderful to sit and watch the sunrise or admire the swirling dusk skies. The position of Whale of a View also offered the endless sounds of waves crashing unlike any of the other homes we've stayed in before. It's as close as you can get to sleeping on the beach. It is an older home that could use a little TLC in the Jack n Jill bathrooms. We were uncertain about sharing at first but the view was worth it. There is a big gap between temperatures upstairs and the bedroom floor,so bring extra warm blankets if you're staying in the winter. The kitchen is basically stocked. Good for cooking basic meals. There are a ton of glasses, plates, bowls and silverware, but no common set of coffee mugs(this isn't a negative-just info). The coffee pot seems like it's on its last legs but it gets by. Overall, you are getting one of the best views. It was so good it was distracting when we were playing games. We are very glad to have stayed here. If you are looking for a view and a stay on the beach, this is a place for you.

Absolutely Fabulous View Unobstructed ocean views on three sides of the house - decks and upstairs windows are perfect for watching the beach and the waves! Very close to all the OBX attractions, shops and restaurants. The home and furniture were clean but dated; floors and carpeting have been nicely upgraded. Large kitchen well equipped - drip coffee pot only. Really enjoyed our stay at Whale of a View. Note: management company VERY responsive to requests.
Location Location Location View View View You CANNOT beat the location and the view from this house. The interior and exterior could use a little updating and some TLC otherwise the house met our needs perfectly. The views were spectacular from the entire upstairs. The location of the home was convenient to the fishing piers, shopping, activities, and restaurants. The beach was not very crowded. You are at the end of the road so it's a nice quiet location. We were very happy with our vacation and would rent this home again.

Whale, that was lovely for us! This beachfront property was ideally located for our first trip to OBX….central for getting north to Duck, south to Hatteras and west to Manteo. Stepping out the door onto the beach, we were just a mile south of Jeannette’s Pier. The upper floor is recently updated, several variety of coffee makers to choose from and kitchen is adequately stocked with basic appliances and utensils…. But the kitchen knives could be sharper. The lower floor has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. They are definitely dated but offer spectacular views of sunrise!
5782 - Whale of a View The absolute best feature is the view and location. It is truly ocean front and sets a bit further toward the ocean than the neighboring houses. It was exactly as described in pictures and description on the website. It is a bit dated in its furnishings and finishes, but this was not an issue for our visit. The beds were comfortable. We brought our own linens and towels so I cannot comment on the linen service. The bathrooms with showers were tiny, but able to make do. The bathroom rugs definitely need to be replaced. Dishes and cooking utensils were plentiful, but also dated. Carpet throughout seemed new. The deck furniture was minimal and basic but did the job and was represented accurately in the listing. It would have been nice to have beach chairs included as part of the "gear." We stayed in December (all adults), so we did not use the beach toys, but from what we could see they were also minimal and basic. Perhaps they replace for the summer season. We appreciated the property being pet friendly. There were no signs of stains or smells anywhere in the house. We washed the windows (with the ocean view) when we arrived, as they were dirty and obstructing the fabulous views. This should be part of the regular cleaning routine. Check in and check out were easy. The garbage must be taken to a dumpster at the end of the street. A bit of a hassle, but not a deal breaker. Sadly, there was no recycling - it pained us to throw away all the recyclables - we had double the amount of garbage bags with the items that could have been recycled. Overall, we were pleasantly pleased with the location, view and accommodations for the price.
Perfect view! Perfect view of the ocean! Could not have been any better view! Home is a little dated! Carpet worn... but with being pet friendly not surprised! I am sure they will go with tile/laminate flooring next time! Other than that could not have asked for any better space and again view was on point!
Spectacular Views from all windows House is literally 50 feet from the ocean with fantastic ocean and beach views from every window of the house. Kitchen is well stocked. Bathrooms are tiny. Appreciated the beach toys that the owners left outside to use. Older but well kept house. Close to shops and activities. Thanks!
Beautiful view The house is absolutely beautiful, we had everything we needed and more, the beach being steps away was great, we saw dolphins playing, sometimes twice a day,sunrises were unbelievable, the best relaxing vacation, will definitely stay at this property again!!
Louise Fabulous location on oceanfront. Quieter then places we’ve stayed in past 30 years. Only drawback is too far south for delivery ordering which we have as high priority on vacation.
Lives up to its name! This home has an amazing view and location. The beach is steps away and the area is super family friendly. The home has great space for families to spread out and the dog loved it too! The home has to let y of dishes, games, puzzles and great porch furniture to watch the dolphins in the morning!
Whale of view, indeed! What a fantastic house! Great for a large family or maybe two smaller ones. Older, I think, but upgraded and very well appointed. With the furniture, appliances, and en suite bathrooms, it's more like a home rather than a rental cottage. Met the owners, who are lovely people and who take pains to offer a comfortable and inviting beach home. The driveway is only one-car wide, so if you have more than one vehicle, you may find yourselves juggling them around. To my mind, that's a very small inconvenience compared to all this house offers. The view is tremendous, with upper and lower oceanside decks and large windows on the top floor. The beach is wide, and even at high tide there is plenty of dry sand, barring a storm out to sea. All in all, a great place to relax and enjoy the OBX.
Thoroughly Enjoyed Our Stay We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this house. We go to OBX every year with our best friends and this house is one we'd definitely consider staying in again. The house name speaks for itself. AMAZING panoramic views of the ocean. The pet friendly option is a must for us so that was great. Great space in all rooms.
