Excellent We have been coming to OBX for 6-years and these accommodations were by far the best that we have stayed in during our annual vacation. Everything was as advertised. We did have an issue with a bathroom drain and the maintenance team was there within 2-hours after notification to take care of the issue. The one small draw back to this location was the step bank to access the beach, it was difficult to pull our beach carts up the knoll to the walkway access. We absolutely loved staying at the McLendon and will likely stay there in the future.

Very Good We really enjoy this beach house and have stayed there twice. We have reserved it for next year. The house is always clean and generally well maintained. We appreciate the outdoor improvements made since last year including the patio around the outdoor grill station and the mowed area in the yard for dog walking. There are loose deck boards on the upper level deck and stair treads that are very loose on the upper deck staircase. Some items that would improve our experience would include a softer mattress in the upstairs bedroom, updated chair-height/elongated/ada toilets, and reclining chair options for at least three living room chairs or sofas. We have three party members with health issues requiring leg elevation when seated. If stairs could be added on the ocean side of the access boardwalk, that would be very helpful to elderly visitors or those with limited mobility as the dune is very steep and hard to climb. If building codes restrict this we understand. Thank you for considering our suggestions.

Great location and great ocean views. We enjoy staying there each time we come. Great location. One comment we have is the ceiling fans need replacing. They are noisy and wobble bad. Sunday to Sunday works perfect for us. We appreciate the opportunity to stay there.

Loved everything The accommodations were amazing, so comfortable, all needs were met. The reservation and checkout process were the easiest I have ever encountered. I loved everything about the experience!

Fantastic place Loved it

Great place to stay!!! Our stay was great. I have been coming to Nags Head for 60 yrs and have stayed in many different cottages/houses. The main thing I look for is easy access to the beach, which this house has. The boardwalk to top of dune, and then down the dune to beach was gradual and easy. The house was great, and the made beds and towels provided were wonderful. Well stocked kitchen, games, dvds and books were all appreciated. The only recommendation I have is that the TVs have some kind of basic cable channels to watch. We were not comfortable logging our own Google account and streaming services apps into the TV in order to watch, due to account security concerns. That said, we don't watch much tv to begin with and just used Youtube to watch news and movies. We would definitely stay here again!

Wonderful stay McLendon was clean and the kitchen was well equipped! The view from the deck was unbeatable.

Unbelievable vacation Our vacation started with the discovery of a green turtle nest in front of a house just three north of McLendon that hatched babies over the course of several days prior to and during the impacts of Hurricane Lee. Next was Tropical Storm Ophelia that shook the house with wind gusts and blew sand all over the decks. We road out the storms watching the sea from the huge living room windows and the show was amazing. Countless miles of walking the beach, collecting shells, fishing off the shore (caught a tent after Lee!) playing in the ocean, doing jigsaw puzzles, eating tons of seafood and reading books. Cottage had everything for a great vacation. It is a well equipped and spacious home.

McLendon The house was not fancy but it was clean and comfortable and it had everything we needed. We felt very much at home there.

Sublime It is definitely worth it to stay directly on the beach - no need to organize just head down when you feel like it - and sitting on the deck next to the beach at night is pure heaven.

Nice House! We all loved the place…it’s so open and bright! Loved the decking going out to the beach. The kitchen had all the tools we needed for cooking. We loved the design of the house. 

Excellent We enjoyed our stay at McLendon. The house was decorated so lovely with pictures of history of the OBX and the view was breathtaking. We added a shell to the wall along with all of the guest who have stayed at the home. It was the cleanest home that we have rented in the OBX. We look forward to returning to this lovely home in the future.

Great ocean front family vacation! This was our first time staying in Nags Head and the location was great. Despite being right next to one of the public beach access parking lots, it was very peaceful. The upper deck provided a good view of the ocean but the dune deck was a perfect spot to sit and watch the waves! The house and appliances were in good condition. Some of the cookware is getting a bit old, but it was still usable. Everyone had a great time though and that is all that really mattered!

Nice house! This was probably the cleanest house we have stayed in during our last couple stays. The pull out couch was nice, we used the top floor only because it was us and our 3 toddlers. Very nice ocean views from dining, kitchen island, and living room. We like to be on the beach so it is easier to get our kiddos out and so one of us can sneak out during naps. The boardwalk was nice, but if you have weak legs/balance it may be a little difficult walking down/up once the boardwalk ends. Other than that, a very nice house. There are lots of stairs, but that is to be expected! Just be aware. We saw many dolphins daily playing in the surf.

Great House This house was very comfortable- my husband and I were alone so we basically used only top floor of house. Ocean view from top deck was great. Walk to beach is very short- would be nice if owners would extend boardwalk out to the dunes but this was minor/ we would defenitely stay in this house again.
