Family Vacation 2026 We have been coming to OBX for over 35 years. This has been the best house we have ever rented. Layout was perfect and lots of seating in family room and dining. The pool was amazing as it is very large compared to other pools and our 7 grandchildren enjoyed it. The adults never got tired of having their morning coffee on the deck and watching the water and the dolphins every morning. We did have an issue with the outdoor foot wash lever as it broke off from being rusted from the salt air and when we checked out Sunday it was still not fixed. This happened the day after we checked in and Tuesday a gentleman out to look at it and figure out what part they needed and he never came back the rest of the week. Other than that incident it was absolutely an amazing house with warm homey touches and a very nice welcome bag with goodies in. We will definitely be renting this house again in the future.

Very Good The house was great! Very spacious and clean. Plenty of room for three families and four small children. It was a rainy week but we were able to enjoy the ocean view from the overlook room. The kitchen was well stocked and had pretty much anything you would need. Definitely would reserve this house again.

Sweet Home Carolina is a Gem “Peace & Tranquility. We decided on the OBX for our 2026 trip this year...so fifteen of us packed up and headed down to the house we decided to rent: "Sweet Home Carolina", in Corolla. We were more than pleased with our choice. The picture highlights as you might imagine 7 kids and 8 adults, inside the house at sunrise might be a little chaotic but a few of us sitting on the broad deck thoroughly enjoyed the peace and quiet of another beautiful sunrise. Sweet Home Carolina was a delight...very clean, spacious, comfortable, pool, hot tub, on the beach, lots of amenities and an owner who reaches out to personalize the whole experience. We were told to race down to the beach every morning to position our chairs...as you can see in the photo, we did but didn't need to. The beach was never very crowded, and you could walk a long way before encountering others. We had a fantastic time, great experiences and lots of fun.”

Beach Bliss Our family enjoyed a fantastic week at Sweet Home Carolina. This beautiful home checked all the boxes for our family group. The accommodations were comfortable and well designed. The kitchen was outfitted for any type of meal we fixed for our group of 12. The pool was a wonderful place to cool off and the beach was just steps away. We loved our first time in this property and hope to return!

Sweet Home Carolina - Sweet Vacation Spot! This was our second stay at Sweet Home Carolina and everything was amazing! Cleaning very good! The house owners surprised us with a special treat both years. The ocean front can’t be beat with a beautiful and welcoming home to boot! Carolina Design is hospitable and warm. We are so thankful for making our time in the Outer Banks special with all the people we love and cherish!

Our Collective Favorite! We had an absolutely wonderful week in this home! Over the years, we’ve rented many places in Corolla, and this one was by far our collective favorite. My husband and I treat our extended family to a week at the beach every other year, and it has been so special to watch our children—and now our grandchildren—enjoy the Outer Banks. What made this home stand out is how warm and inviting it feels. As my daughter said, this is the only rental we’ve stayed in that truly feels like someone’s home, rather than just a rental. Everything was clean, well-maintained, and thoughtfully furnished, making our stay incredibly comfortable. Thank you for sharing your lovely home—we would absolutely love to stay here again!

Awesome Again We love renting this house, and the little TLC showed. The house is large enough to comfortable accommodate our group of 10 while also allowing us to spend time together. The house everything we needed and then some.

Wonderful! This was our 3rd year at Sweet Home Carolina and we reserved again for next year. Few homes have the aesthetics this home possesses and it gets more beautiful with each year. Our favorite week with friends & family.

Unbeatable Location! We had a great stay in Sweet Home Carolina! The proximity to the beach can't be beat! From the top deck of the house, you can see over the dunes and see most of the beach. Most houses we've stayed in before you can’t see the beach and you'd have to walk a good distance to get to the steps to walk over the dunes, but not here. From what we could tell, this house, along with 2-3 houses to the north and south were the only ones super close to the dunes. AL other houses seemed to be set back much farther from the ocean. It's a short walk from the house to the beach, which made it perfect for both sets of grandparents to go join their grandkids on the beach. The remodeled kitchen is spacious and top notch. In the bathrooms, we found the overhead vanity lights super cool w/their two lighting functions (bright and dim) if you turn the light switches off, then on. The décor throughout was comfortable and inviting. The dumb waiter made moving in/out a cinch w/luggage and groceries. We’ll look to stay at this house next time we come down to the OBX!

Wonderful Week at Perfect Location Our group had a great week at Sweet Home Carolina. The house had everything we could ask for and it was fantastic to have to just walk down the steps to get to the beach. The house was also big enough that we never felt like we were on top of each other. Our biggest problem is trying to figure out when we can return!

Sweet Home Carolina We have used the outdoor shower everyday and it is spectacular! This is our favorite house out of all the places we've stayed over the last 17 years. The pool, the layout and the access to the beach are just great. All of the renovations and updates are beautiful. We love all of the outdoor furniture, especially the tall chairs on the top level deck. We reserved a week for next year and can't wait to return!

Beautiful Home This was a great place and location. Best vacation yet! Tastefully decorated and setup with everything you needed. The only issue we had was with ants in the kitchen, but we also understand that this is a southern problem that everyone must cope with.

First Class Sweet Home Carolina is newly renovated and is a first class resort home. New appliances, new flooring, new pool deck and updated furnishings and art have all been added in the past year. It is an excellent location with a fully equipped kitchen. We loved are stay and looking forward to returning next year.

Updated: Oceanfront Perfection! Sweet Home Carolina is a dream house for a family/friend beach vacation. From the jaw-dropping ocean views in the open-plan living/dining area to the perfectly appointed bedrooms, it is a spectacular OBX retreat. The immaculate kitchen has everything you need. The food storage space is ample. The beautiful island is a great size to have people gather in the kitchen while the cooking is going on, without being "under foot" of the chef. The bar is stocked for serving every type of drink in style. It made for great Happy Hours. The den, right off of the main living space, is a lovely spot for reading and picture-perfect ocean viewing. And it gives people a cozy place to chat. The master bedroom is spacious and has great ocean views. The 2nd master is equally stunning. The 3 additional bedrooms were styled so perfectly for a beach house. The bunk room is a great spot for kids. The rec room is a great place to chill (and has a fridge for real chilling). The outside space and pool/hot tub area are a 15 on a scale of 10. And most of the bedrooms provide easy-deck access. The top deck has great seating spaces all around the house for gathering and dining. Another great aspect of the house is that we were able to stand on the top deck and see our family in the pool AND on the beach -- super helpful for keeping track of a big group! After years of renting ocean-front homes in Nags Head, we hope we can always return to Corolla. Having 2 grocery stores (Harris Teeter and Food Lion) a few miles from the house is all you need to make this the perfect beach getaway. It was a joy to eliminate the strip malls and 4-lane roads and gain a more tranquil tree-lined experience in Corolla. But we rarely saw those tree-lined roads because once we settled into Sweet Home Carolina, we really didn't want to leave.

This House is THE ONE! This was our sixth year visiting OBX, over which time we've tried different houses/locations to try and determine our favorite, and while we've had great luck over the years, Property #2065 is hands down, THE ONE! We really loved the home's location, layout, and a ton of details that made it so comfortable, convenient, and easy to enjoy! The owners clearly put a lot of thought into the small things (and the big, beautiful new kitchen and main living space!) that all helped to make this an extraordinarily pleasant vacation for us. We cannot return to OBX on our normal Sept schedule next year, and were really hoping to find this house available in early June, but no such luck! In any case, we'll look forward to booking SWEET HOME CAROLINA for all of our future OBX trips and pray it will be available when we are! Also, MANY thanks to Resort Realty's maintenance man (regret I do not recall his name), who arrived early in our trip to tend to a clogged master shower drain and assist with rec room electronics questions. He was so polite, kind, helpful, and cheerful, despite being very busy and in high demand following Labor Day weekend! We had a fantastic vacation and are so grateful! Thank you!

Superb Family Reunion Sweet Home Carolina has been a great place for our family beach week at the end of summer the past 2 years. It's location is ideal for GrandParents; beachfront views with a private walkway directly to a quiet part of the beach and a pool. Our 7 GrandChildren are 5-13 and they like alternating between the beach and pool during the day, we like seeing them along with watching the sunrise and moonrise. The improvements to date and in plans for this year make the rent increase worth it. We have rented the same place and week next year. Ben Francisco

First of all, the forward placement of these older homes is so much better than the newer ones (I have been coming since 1995 when most houses were close to the water). We loved being right on top of the dunes and so close to the ocean. The new kitchen was great....The center island was very large and worked perfectly. The bar area with the sink was also very nice. We used it extensively. We enjoyed the dumb waiter...a little strange that it leads outside, but it was great for groceries! Another nice touch was all the new flatware, plates, bowls and glasses...especially the ones above the bar!! The pool was another positive...it was very large.

Sweet Home Carolina We have vacationed in this house 16 years so obviously we enjoy it. There many features we always appreciate. The new kitchen is a big improvement as well as the many new TV’s. The pool table was missed. In all we had a great week at Sweet Home Carolina.
