7/13-7/20 Rental The house was the perfect size and location for our family and our dog! We loved how it was pet-friendly and spacious for all. The rooms and bathrooms were all clean, and the kitchen was full of equipment, which was great for us because we love to cook! There was a bit of a bug problem. We understand that we are on the bay, which can be buggy, but the furniture, walls, columns, and ceilings outside were covered in dead bugs that looked like they had been there for a long time, and the live bugs at night were overly excessive, in the morning we could not get into our cars without rinsing them because of the excessive may flies and spiders. There were a lot of bugs and spiders on the ceiling inside (again, some dead, some alive). I am not sure if the house is treated regularly or at all, but perhaps would should consider it. The hot tub was also down for 2 days of our stay but was resolved during the afternoon on the 3rd day. Lastly, the filters for the refr.igerators all needed to be replaced. I sent a request for the maintenance email, but never heard back. Overall, it was a great experience and I would definitely recommend or consider staying again.

Amazing Soundfront Home I’ve been vacationing in the OBX 35 years…sometimes twice a year. This is one a favorite homes. The amenities, well appointed kitchen, heated pool, hot tub was nice. Furniture and beds comfortable. Plenty of space to spread out and relax. The private dock with the most amazing sunsets. I would definitely stay at Midas Whale again.

Excellent The views of the sound from the main third floor deck were excellent. We brought our own kayaks so we made a lot of use of the dock but even without the kayaks it was very pleasant to relax in the Adirondack chairs on the dock. The king bed on the main third floor was very comfortable and the elevator was very useful for one of our party that has mobility issues. Walking distance to Beach but if you need to drive there is public parking fairly near the beach access point.

First of many OBX visits for new Puppy Levi. The view though! Easy check in and out process, receptive communication along with beautiful well maintained properties keeps us coming back!

Wonderful house! 🏡 Well kept house and grounds, great supply of kitchenware. Had a great stay at the Midas Whale. So nice that it was pet friendly as well!

Great sunsets for cocktail hour Lovely home. The views at sunset and easy walk to the beach gives you the best of all the OBX offers. The property was clean and well stocked with cooking equipment including large crockpot and fantastic blender for frozen drinks. Elevator made easy transport of groceries and luggage from covered garage to kitchen, and trouble free access for elderly parents with walker and scooter (NOTE - there are 3-4 inch thresholds at entrance doors that made wheelchair a little tricky but doable). Having the beds made and bath towels was lovely. There were limited kitchen towels and no hand soap in bathrooms.

Amazing Sunsets The views at this home are what make it special - all sunsets are beautiful, even on cloudy days. The wildlife was unexpected-deer in the marshy area between sound and house, otters and turtles in the water, osprey catching fish, fox wandering the neighborhood at night. The home is comfortable and well-appointed with ample kitchen items. LOVED the dual coffee pots and dual dishwashers. Never knew how much I needed that! The made beds upon arrival gave it a true vacation feel. It is very open home, but still very soundproof - didn't hear my 20 something children on 1st floor playing pool when I went to bed on 2nd floor. The home was easy to navigate for my elderly parents with the help of the elevator. I would have loved screens in the windows so we could have opened them-the weather was cool and sunny and the breeze of the bay was really the only AC we needed. Only note for others who may need more physical assistance - the doorways are not flush with ground which could be challenging for a person in a wheelchair and there are no support bars in the showers. I would suggest having more than one dish towel in the kitchen and adding a drying rack for hand washed items, and hand soap in the bathrooms.

Family time Together with my wife, three children and their spouses and our 7 grandchildren (ages 14 to 1) we spent a fabulous week. The kitchen is very well equipped and rest of the house was spectacular. I especially enjoyed the unique wall decorations. The house was perfect for our 6th visit to the Outer Banks. Situated on a street where we had previously stayed in another house the view of the sound is spectacular. Just 2 items of constructive criticism. Many of the TVs were either disconnected from the cable boxes or just did not work. Lastly, the Weber Grill was great but we ran out of gas after one use and the spare propane bottle was empty.

We loved the Midas Whale! The house and view were amazingly beautiful! Amazing sunsets everyday and loved the wildlife in the marsh area. Loved the location proximity to beach and historic Corrola. House had great layout for our family. The kitchen was exceptionally well appointed with literally EVERYTHING we needed and then some (so many high quality knives, beverage options, mixers, blender, mixing bowls, seafood boil pots, utensils, numerours other pots and baking dishes......). And everything was very high quality We really appreciated that as many beach houses we have visited often have limited and often low quality utensils and pots/pans. We brought a lot of extras with us and didn't even need to unpack them. The grill was also way above what is usually offered at beach rentals. We were very pleased with the very quick response to our maintenance request regarding the elevator. Thank you! Thanks for a VERY memorable family holiday vacation!

Great house with lots of room for everyone. The pool table and game console got lots of use. The heated pool was a bonus and the private dock for fishing and crabbing was awesome!

Midas Whale This was by far one of our favorite homes that we have stayed at while vacationing in OBX. It was perfect for our family of 6 adults and 2 children. The prices was very reasonable, considering the cost of other homes with these amenities. Great sound views, easy access to the ocean and close to everything you needed. The home was beautiful, clean and well stocked. We loved the pool and hot tub, and walked to the dock all the time. My husband caught a huge fish off the dock! Will definitely rent this home again!

Awesome week at Midas Whale Beautiful home! Well appointed in every aspect. A/C worked great on all 3 levels. Great views of the sound from the dock. Would highly recommend this house!

Win Win What an improvement from last year!! House was much cleaner inside and out. The rented bikes were an added touch that really was awesome. Not sure if there are new owners but if so great job!! We’re booked again for next year. Can’t wait!!

Very Good We enjoyed our week on this lovely sound front home. The accommodations fit our 3 generation family of 6 adults and three children perfectly with room to spare. The views from the decks were relaxing and the dock provided opportunity to fish, crab and kayak. Sunsets on the dock were glorious and watching the fireworks at Whalehead Club were awesome. We do recommend enhancing the WiFi connection as we often experienced a weak signal, which was challenging for three adults who sometimes had to attend zoom meetings.

Excellent We just wanted to Thank you for allowing us to stay at your beautiful home we enjoyed our time. The view was so peaceful. It had a nice walkway to beach. There was a lot of construction but you couldn't even tell they were there. Thank you!

Heaven on Earth! We just enjoyed the best vacation ever at midas whale! The home is GORGEOUS with a view that can't be beat!!! The home has all the amenities you need and all the comforts of home. It was spotless and welcoming and the heated pool was AMAZING! We loved watching the sunsets off the dock and loved all the wildlife we saw from the balcony (deer, eagle, heron, woodpecker, geese, and a raccoon) it was a short drive (or even walk) to the ocean when we wanted to feel our toes in the sand. I can't wait to go back again!!

Very Good Loved the house! Very well appointed with a full kitchen. The outside was just as nice, pool was warm and enjoyable and the view is great. Having your own dock is so nice.

Perfect vacation house- Great sunsets Midas Whale was perfect for our family vacation. 8 adults and 2 little ones. We could have added another couple of people and had plenty of space. Also a quiet street... we brought our dogs and they loved it! House is stocked with everything you need. Layout is great and the dock for kayaking or SUP is perfect. Not to mention the sunsets!!! They are beautiful :) We will stay here again when we come back to the OBX!!

Second great stay House is very well organized. Great kitchen. Great sunset (especially in winter). A lot of privacy even with a lot of people in the house. Elevator is a nice convenience but a bit tricky to operate. Will probably stay again.

Loved it!!! Midas Whale is such a beautiful home! Perfect place for a big group. Loved that each bedroom has a bathroom. The kitchen is well stocked, and the elevator is nice for bringing up the groceries or elderly members. The pool and dock are perfect... something for everyone at Midas Whale!

Perfection We have been renting in the Outer Banks for years and Midas Whale tops our list! Beautiful, well-appointed home has EVERYTHING needed for a wonderful vacation and then some. The sound and the sunsets are amazing. Thank you! Would love to come back.

Lovely Soundfront Home This home is well laid out and a lovely soundfront home. The dock is outstanding. The heated salt water pool is very nice. The Pac-Man game is the best game I have seen in a vacation home.

You've Got to Stay Here We've stayed here 3 times...absolutely love it. Sitting on that dock, watching the sunset....totally awesome. The house is beautiful. Kitchen is very well equipped. You can tell the owners keep up on everything.

AWESOMELY AWESOME Wow! Wow! Wow! This house is BEAUTIFUL! Love the beach theme throughout the house. Thehot tub and pool are fabulous. And ohhhh my goooodnesss.....THE DOCK!!!! You can walk from the house, right out to the sound!!!! It even has little lights that guide you along the walkway after sunset. Ohhhhh, and theres a bench and chairs at the end of the dock!!!!! Imagine sitting there at night, watching the stars! Beautiful! And....you can even see the LIGHTHOUSE ! We will DEFINITELY be staying here again.
